just receive a letter that my Prius v 2013 required software update .
Is anyone done this recall yet? Dealer programming whole car or just a Hybrid software?
Just wondering is they can upgrade my Entune and Navi with new software .

    Thanks

i think it's the inverter update to kep you from braking down at high speeds. they can update entune if you don't have the latest version, but you're out of luck on the nav unless you're willing to pony up.

I was just in the dealer for service and they ignored it completely. I guess they didn't get the memo. I don't plan on doing anything about it.

I know nothing about it, b ut I wanted to be the first one to complain about a 30% decrease in mpg due to their horrible software update.

I had the update done on my 2012 "v" 3 weeks ago, and after another 1500 miles, I notice no change in my fuel economy.

I don't know how they are distributing the notices. Got a call from the dealer Thursday, recall notice in the US mail Friday, scheduled for next Tuesday. Maybe they are spacing them out to prevent service department overload? That would create a legal issue had I had an accident in the time between when other got their notices and I received mine wouldn't it? Obvious there must be spacing since others must have gotten their notices 3-4 weeks ago.

Last time I checked, software doesn't cause accidents.

I have a hunch that there are a certain number of faulty components in a certain number of systems, and the software update is simply a band-aid to prevent failures in those units that are faulty.

If anything, marginally better MPG (44 v 42), but I swear the machinery now sounds more "industrial", especially on regen, perhaps a wider pulse width modulation?

i guess if you're really burning rubber, you might burn up the transistors, and the car can stall on the highway.

I have a 2012 and didn't get the letter, but putting my VIN into the Toyota website tells me to bring it in... It's in for this software update today... we'll see what happens.

I doubt you have a 2010 Prius v, though you may have gotten a letter for some Prius software update.

Got it done and had a check engine plus the hybrid system light coming on. They brought it back in and "did something" and now it's fine. I did notice that the ICE transition is a lot smoother transition from EV mode - but other than that I can't see/feel anything else that has changed.

Got my notice today, just checking to see if anyone has gotten any performance issues since their update.

    So, currently it seems benign.

I agree with your statement. The update will likely lower some upper performance parameter to prevent damage to the subpar component. Since we don't run and gun, it might not be an issue. :cautious:

I haven't noticed anything in the ~200km I've driven since yesterday. MPG seems to be the same. I did notice though that at some points where I've previously coasted into EV mode it has stayed in ICE mode a bit longer ... but that could be just because I'm actively looking for something to be different.

After getting the similar software update on our regular 2010 Prius I got the "Check Hybrid System" warning, at the dealership, when I started the car. They brought it back in and "did something, and now it's fine. Deja vu eh? No "check engine" light tho.

For the first few weeks after the update, both me and my wife noticed the car would slip into electric-only a little easier, actually liked the difference.
