Hey everyone I am new to this forum. Just purchased a 2012 Plug-in Advanced with 54k miles in silver with dark gray interior. In great condition accept quite a few scratches behind the liftback. I think I got a pretty good deal at $19,600 OTD. Anything I should look out for or opinions on my deal would be awesome! Thanks in advance

One reason is that this particular vehicle is a bit high mileage. Price took a hit for that reason for sure.

agreed. with the lift back you don't get that much depreciation at that mileage. great for pip buyers, as it's just broken in at 54k!

Well ain't that a coincidence! Heather, my wife just got a Clearwater Blue 2012 Advanced PiP yesterday. $20K 32K miles, trading in a 160K mile 2005 Prius. Lots of new stuff on this one. And we now BOTH plug-in! See my signature. She is super excited. Softex 'leather' is nice, plus heated and power drivers seat. got lots of catching up to do in the Prius world. I've been on the Leaf and Tesla forums since her 2005 has been so reliable and my attention has turned to no gas. 13.3 miles show for EV miles after an overnight (well, 3 hours anyway) charge from my Leaf EVSE factory cable. it works just fine with the PiP.

Always plug in, always run on EV when possible. A blending of HV and EV will generally = 150 mpg plus ,driving conservatively. That is: always do the speed limit.. Under slow traffic conditions I also drive my PIP in neutral and let it coast for a mile or so. Does not mathamatically increase the mpg, but does use NO gas in neutral. And that is the object, isnt it? plus clean air.

Thank you for all your advice. I will add pictures tomorrow! I went 40 something miles and didn't lose one notch. It wasn't charged when I left the dealer. Tonight will be its first charge and I will take my son to school tomorrow morning which is 14 miles one way. Should be interesting to see the mpg! :) I think the reason I was able to get a good deal was because they had it listed at 24k at the dealer and online at 20k which is above all the other "advance...but really base pips" so I got lucky it was the only one in a 200 mile radius that was truly an Advance model.

So far I am loving it and what sold me vs the Prius V was the Lithium ion battery...i really feel it will last much longer than the nickel and thats saying something plus the extra mpg from being able to plug it in my garage every night. In the metro Atlanta area they are really starting to have charge stations in a lot more places so hopefully I can take advantage of that without too much inconvenience!

Does anyone have tinted windows? The car was a one owner lease with a perfect carfax and all maintenance done in Virginia. Here in atlanta it gets much hotter so I feel it will help the car stay cool and keep the battery from working too hard.

This will be the family car my wife will drive...we have two kids hopefully this can last us for at least another 150k miles we drive about 25k a year and will be parking the 08 Acura MDX its a great truck but a gas guzzler we avg 18mpg lol

    Howdy! (waves)

Mine is like that. I put the scratches there lifting things in and out of the trunk.

Not really. Check the windshield to see if it has weird triple reflection ghosts at night (apparently some bad windshields made it though QC)

Unless the car has 200k+ on it, I'd say it's a great price. It's the color I wanted, for less than I paid. Well done!

Does the HUD display work? Mine(2012) stopped working just as the standard warranty was run out, I did however purchase an extended warranty, FYI

Yes the HUD works on Heather's 2012 PiP advance...but she finds it distracting and turns it off. Check to see if the HUD button is green (meaning it is on). If it is on...check the brightness and the location adjustments. Could be angled down too low to see or dimmed too much to see?

Was wondering if you can post an update as how you feel about the car after having it for over a month now?

Are getting the EV range as advertised easily or if you have to put much effort into getting the advertised EV range?

I assume no buyer's remorse? Still happy with your purchase?

    Thanks!

I also just picked up a 2012 PIP Advanced. I've been pretty impressed over the last week. I mostly just would like more electric range. Otherwise, the car is pretty impressive. Radar cruise is incredibly nice on long commutes, and the remote A/C is awesome.

Took it to a Toyota dealer closer to my house to have the reverse beeping preference changed. The maintenance folks were shocked that it was a 2012. It aged well. 36k miles off lease. Getting 50mpg consistently. I'm still working on learning to be lighter on the throttle.

May we ask what you paid (and mileage) for the Advanced Model? Thanks

Dang, certified to! That is a great deal especially with those added warranties for an Advanced!
