I'm depressed because I just bought a 2015 Toyota Prius 3 days ago and I've been over the hill. First time I've ever bought a current year model car, and just now I'm finding out there will be a 4th gen so soon. I feel like returning my prius. If only I could do that.

I appreciate your effort to cheer me up :) I don't think a got a great deal though, a little over 25 grand for the base model, and with financing and apr I will have paid a little over 27 grand for the car. I should've fought for a better deal.

I see you are in Florida, so every region has different offers. California had a $3,000 rebate and just increased it to $3,500.00. So they have no rebates in Florida?

    No, only a military rebate.

Well, then you paid what others are paying in Florida, but with a military rebate. Don't worry about the 2016, eventually everyones car is last years model. I also bought a 2015 Civic, and guess what, there is a new 2016 model coming out....such is life. :) Enjoy your new car!

now that the new chevy volt has purported better efficiency and no longer looks like a science project, it might eat some prius sales, too.

I will just keep her until Gen V comes along. Or at that point if Tesla comes out with a 30 something grand model I might migrate. We'll see what happens. For now I'm in love with my Prius.

I am surprised to see that I actually like it.

Not enough to trade Gen3 for, still better than expected. Will definitely stop by and check it out when they hit show room

I've shown these to three people who are not Prius people. All three thought the look of the new one is more attractive than either the g3 or the g2.

Perhaps that's why the Prius in Gen 3 form is not a huge seller. The new pic shows a blending of Toyota family traits, and a bit more zing, but still very Prius. But pictures are pictures. I would agree that the new pics show a car less bland, a bit more current.

I'm sure gas prices have a definite impact on the youth "wants" and priorities. But virtually everyone knows the Prius "look". Lots of us Boomers are buying stuff, but the compact cars are selling well to a smaller market. The price differences between a Prius and competition would suggest that the younger new car buyers buy something else. The monthly payments on a non-hybrid clearly outweigh any gasoline costs. Then there's the "cool" factor.
