new owner here, just got a 2015 prius 2. There's a small round light up near the map lights that shines down toward the shifter area, it's always on when my headlights are on and kinda drives me nuts, any way to shut it off??
how about some grey putty? oh, you have the same small lights in each front footwell. do you hate those, too?
Buy those foam earplugs, cut one in half (lengthwise), roll it between your fingers to make it narrow enough to insert into hole. Insert into hole. Done.
I just like a dark cabin at night. Light is a silly design, you don't need it to see the shifter. I'll try the foam!
Not needed; it's easy to find by feel. They'd have better spent that money making the miserable HVAC display more visible. It's washed out by sun in daytime, too dim at night.
There's probably a regulation stating the shifter has to be illuminated or the selected gear has to be displayed. There's no gear shift indicator on the dash, the handle isn't illuminated from the inside...
