Hello to all the Prius drivers out there! I am hoping to be joining your club very soon. I am in the market for a 2015 Prius but I am stuck on which trim I should get. So my question for you all is the trim 3 really worth the extra money? The only thing that seems to be extra from trim 2 is the entune audio system with navigation, and I hear a lot of mixed reviews about it. Any advice or experience you have had with this will be a great help! I feel like having the entune app and the nav system would be cool since my old car doesn't have anything fancy like that, but if its not that great of a system I don't know if it is really worth it to shell the extra money out for it. Thanks in advance for your help!
I don't think the Prius 3 is worth it. The navigation is not all that great......and worse of all, when bright sunlight shines on it, it becomes useless.
Get the three, few people wish they had a lower trim, most (myself included) usually wish they had a higher trim, If you have an I phone entune would be a good plaything.
Thanks for the advise guys. I have an android phone, is entune still compatible with that? Also, is it something you honestly feel you get your money's worth out of? I was looking at the apps that are included with it and I don't think I would have much use for anything other than the nav. That's also why I was on the fence about it.
I went with the Four as well, but mostly for the Softex (fake leather), heated fronts seats and power/lumbar drivers side seat. The Nav upgrade is crap...I mean horrible.
I'm new to site and looking to find my first Prius, but can't find trim and color I want. Husband is thinking for driving to CO from UT to get the Prius we want. Is it worth the trip 8 hrs?
The Nav is absolute garbage. Your cell phone is lot better. The biggest issue with the Nav is you cannot use it while in motion. Not even your passenger. You have to physically pull over. Don't get me started on the lousy voice recognition. The second thing is map updates cost money. On your smartphone, it's free. Entune is also garbage. I can see its uses though. It makes it a lot easier to use pandora and iheartradio, etc. No one will pull you over for using it. However, like the Nav there is nothing that Entune does that a smartphone cannot and everything it does is less featured. I'd say the only thing the three is better than the two is 3 door sks instead of just driver's is that worth $1000? Not even close. Keep in mind, Entune came out in 2012. It's a 3 year old system. If you want to be wowed by technology, this is not it.
Not sure your location "slc" but Dealerships do trades all the time and grab them for you before they hit Regional make ready. I have done this for my last 3 purchases. No need to drive 8 hrs, but let them think your are willing to get what you are buying. Don't talk to regular salespersons, go straight to the Fleet Sales Manager.
I would go for higher trim for the stereo upgrade. I just had to replace the head unit and all speakers in my 2011 Prius. '11 Toyota Prius Two with Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat Head unit Upgrade! | PriusChat
Depends on what one considers an upgrade. The 2015 Four I just bought for Son has the 6.1 GreenEdge and it sounds like crap. If Stereo/NAV was a priority I'd say buy lower level and rip it out for aftermarket...like I did on my 2010 II. frodoz Stereo Upgrade | PriusChat
Frodoz, your stereo upgrade, photos and documentation on PC gave me the idea and confidence to replace the head unit and all the speakers, . I have not done modifications on cars since I left College, the days of buying salvage cars. Well, I know the stereo is important to me while I can use my phone for Nav when I need it. Or I would buy a lower trim and upgrade the head unit. I have 3 different Nav apps.
Thanks for all your help guys! I decided to go with the two, since I don't need all the other stuff. This deff helped me make my decision. I'm going to the dealership today, so wish me luck!
I believe from my research that the back up camera is standard on the Two in the 2015 model. Thats one of the reasons that I am okay with going with the 2.
I believe in the 'States the Persona is a lowish level WITH the 17" rims. There's more to the 17" rims than meets the eyes, the steering is different, tighter, and really worthwhile IMO. Actually it's a head scratcher to me why they don't use this steering setup with the 15" rim models too. Also, I HATE the 15" wheel covers. To directly address your question, and this is purely seat-of-pants, I'd go with level 2.
Update: I got my lovely 2015 Prius Two in Nautical Blue Metallic earlier this week! I got a great deal on it, and so far I am in love with it! The Two is the perfect fit for my needs! Once again thank you all for your help with this! I am excited to officially be a part of your community!
