The C needs new shoes!

    I'm starting to look at summer tires for our Camry hybrid. The Turanza has about the lowest tread wear rating anywhere on Tirerack. 260

    I looked at the Yokahama Avid Ascend Blue earth, which I believe is on my Prius. Comes in at 740. Our old Envigors lasted 4-5 years now, probably around45 thousand miles. Fronts scrubbed.

    IMO there isnt reason to buy high threadwear tire if you dont drive much. After 3 years rubber is getting too hard and brittle, it is either wears too fast or doesnt hold the road. So the 60k tire and 90k tire will matter not at that point. This is based on year around use. If you switch to winter tires you see 4?

    ^That longer term thinking is something I hadn't considered, but I should given my dry, hot climate.
    My bad Bridgestone experience with the OEMs had me steering clear this go-around anyway. ;)

    Nokian also makes newer WRG3 in direct replacement size but those more expensive. They are marked LRR and supposed to last much longer than older WRG2. WRG2 were awesome in wet, ice and snow, but didn't like heat; would melt off in summer. Something to consider if you live in snowmelt.

    The new Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus seems to get stellar reviews.

    They must be brand new. I checked their site not long ago and they had no tires for the c. At least not in OEM size.

    For the TPMS I'd tell them to just leave it alone.

    Just make sure they know how to install tires with TPMS sensors (they should seat rubber to avoid damaging sensors) and they give you warranty. I had one broken off by installer. It was flying around in tire giving clunking sound at low speeds and by the time it stopped working it was too late to take it back. Cost me a new sensor ($31) and reprogramming tool ($150) to fix it, bummer.

    I am at 42,000 miles and will need tires in about 5,000 miles.....

    I've got 60k on my OEM Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max and they look to be good for at least another 20k.

    I have 43k on my C's OEM Bridgestone Turanza's.
    They still have quite a lot of tread but have worn unevenly and make a lot of noise.
    I have eight Ecopa 422 Plus on order for both of my Prii now and they should be installed this coming week.

    My Turanzas became threadbare by 30k. Wonder if the desert climate had something to do with it. Sitting pretty with some Michelin Energy Savers for the last 10k.

    Goodyears are bad? 80k is a pretty good run on the same tires.

    OEM disasters in my case. I'm liking the Michelins so far.
