I have had a series of Hybrid issues.. At 100K had check hybrid light on where it was found that my hybrid coolant reservoir had a hole(half the size of a penny) . I was told that it was probably related to a small stone dragged from the ground (didn't make any sense to me how it got there missing everything else). The dealer quoted me 2000$. I towed me car to another dealer 70 miles away (thanks AAA !!) who did the replacement for $1100. Now at 125K, again the hybrid light on a 700+ mile road trip !! Went to same first dealer today who told me that the inverter is the problem (part number 9200-49025 error code P0A94) and it would cost $4000. I am still in grad school and that is a lot of money !!! I called back and asked him if warranty can be used. He now tells me that there are torn insulation in the hood and also some insulation pieces near inverter and he suspect rodents. I know the torn hood insulation has been there for 1-2 hrs. I even serviced my car 2 days ($400) before the trip and nothing was mentioned. Besides why would the torn insulation that too at the hood be a problem now ? Can the heat cause the problems ? I read a lot of reports about heating problems with inverter assay. I am frustrated with this dealer and not sure if he is trying to rip me. For people with similar issues in future, please take photos before you take the car to dealer so you can prove what existed before !! Any thoughts or advice on the whole issue ??
Hi Cooper, Has your 2010 had the E0E recall performed? If so, I would read through this thread and any additional IPM warranty enhancement info you can dig up. There is a fair amount, both here on PC and around the web. If you've had the E0E re-flash, you likely have a good case, even if it means going over the dealer's head to corporate. If you have not had the E0E, you are likely on the hook for the price of an inverter. If this is the case, used inverters can be had relatively cheaply and are an easy install by a good independent mechanic. Good luck. Inverter IPM - 15 year Warranty Enhancement ZE3 | PriusChat
M.wynn, Thanks for the reply... I had received a copy of the warranty extension too. I totally forgot about it until you had mentioned. My diagnostic code was listed in it too. I had the same thing happen with the car suddenly decelerating and 4-5 check engine lights come on. I had called the Toyota customer care today and they did not mention anything about it. I will call them again tomorrow and mention it. I performed an IPM flash update in 02/2014. Is that the EoE recall you mention ??
Yes, that IPM flash was the E0E recall. If the inverter failed, it should be covered, but not if it failed due to loss of coolant.

I would think the meeces chewing a hole in that inverter coolant bottle is more likely than a stone kicked up from the road! Not sure I'd be completely down with this dealer.
