No Toyota always said that the Prius will be the first vehicle based on TNGA!

Either the driver is very big or the steering wheel is very small !
Seems smaller as in gen. 3 !
I can't say I like the instrument panel very much ,the clear to see gaps between the single components make it look kind of cheap!
It seems to look very empty without the flying console and I was hoping they would use a navigation system similar to the one in the NS4 !

Why do they build these concept cars when they don't ever want to use the tech in it anyway ?

I was hoping for a bit more Knight Rider instrument panel style !

...ah, yes, the sweeping Cylon + Knight Rider red-light instrument panel (ha,ha)!

Could be the size of the airbag cover. The Gen 2 Prius's steering wheel looks like a GameGear controller. The Gen 3 has smaller auxiliary buttons (and they're soft-touch. These spyshots show hard plastic buttons returning).

Also, if it's truly like the Mirai's, it's not any smaller than what we're used to (I've sat in the Mirai). You want small, the FR-S is smaller than the Prius!

I would have liked the Instrument panel to be a bit more like this :

The Toyota *ambidextrous* dash design: it's neither left for USA nor right for Europe/asia, but centrally positioned so as to offend everyone equally (ha,ha)!

Are there sources in Japan watching the factory and shipping docks that will be reporting on production status?

Toyota has taken us for a joyride with NS4. They take the concept car to every auto show and tell us this is the direction they are heading and then come up with the same old dated designs in out, I don't know why I even bothered having hopes of seeing NS4 in production form.

Actually I've made up my mind that if Gen 4 turns out to be a few tweaks here and there for a few more mpgs and slightly better handling, I won't bother, certainly will not be getting one brand new that's for sure.

The Hybrid, Pluggin and EV space has a lot more choice nowadays and I've just extended my Gen3 warranty for two years so plenty of time to make a decision.

What! No heads up holographic display? OK - maybe that is reaching too far too soon.

I can hold out on a new car purchase until the Gen IV PiP comes out. I think the next gen PiP, if done right, could be based on either the Gen III or Gen IV platform. Meaning, if they screw up the next gen PiP, I wouldn't blame it on Gen IV not having this or that feature.

I brought home a few 10ft lengths of drip edge in our '05 Accord today and the same is possible in gen3 Prius. This would not work with a current Camry hybrid, nor could you even put an 8ft 2x4 in a Camry Hybrid. No way in an Accord Hybrid either, maybe in a Fusion Hybrid. Anyhow, Prius has good cargo flexibility which will keep it selling better than any midsize sedan hybrid with a trunk.

I guess some people were hoping for a radical change with the 4th gen Prius. Well, the radical change came about with introduction of the 2nd gen Prius which became a huge hit. Some radical change for the 4th gen Prius may very well have cut its sales to one third.

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it, but make it better if you can do so without messing it up.

New Prius seems to look conventional in ways .
In the Mirai there is the center cluster then an Audio/Navigation System and a very nice looking fan control unit whreas in the new Prius there ist just the center cluster and a Navigation audio system with a very small fan control unit .
I know I might be one of the few that actually like the flying bridge in gen 3. but that caught my eye straightaway whreas the new design doesn't appeal to me right now !
Maybe it will be different all together when finally uncovered but for now I don't think it's very attractive!
I hope Toyota isn't turning into a new Samsung !
Samsung once built great phones with great features, but now they obviously decided to follow the boring pattern of Apple and turned them into iphones !

I swear I have virtually never looked at the touch tracer except for it to go away: If I want to use a steering wheel button, I look at the steering wheel, briefly, and press the button. The idea of playing braille with the steering wheel buttons, then looking to the display image just hasn't set in with me. If someone cannot briefly take their eyes off the road to look at the climate controls, etc .... they really shouldn't be driving.

That sounds overly complicated. I can use the radio controls by feel alone. Can this be turned off once that is learned by the driver?

In Car and Driver's current issue including overview / review of 2016 models, they state, emphatically, that the 4th gen (non-plug in) Prius will offer a choice of NiMH or Lithium Ion traction battery. They are talking about the hybrid only regarding battery choice and they say the plug in will arrive about a year later.

So another confirmation the plug-in won't be here until nearly 2017. I hope they eek out range improvements in the meantime.

It's more for people who have trouble focusing near and then far quickly. Just like the speedo, it's designed to minimise the time to focus back on the road by putting the steering wheel buttons further away as a virtual replica beside the speedo.
