Same my 2010 was crazy, my 2011 is solid, but, place a metal coffee thingy in the cup holder without some paper for cushion beneath and it rattles lime crazy.

I have a 2013 v and have several rattles/plastic trim resonating issues. The silver trim for the center console cup holder will resonate against the cup holder/center console molding. I'm "fixing" that with 3M plastic emblem and trim adhesive i picked up from an autoparts store. This adhesive doesn't seem to get rock hard, but stays rubbery when dried. Its acting like a cushion between the two parts. So far so good. I've applied a thin bead to the gap between the silver trim and cup holder molding and the resonating is nearly gone. The more glue I add to the circumference the less it resonates.

The other huge issue I had turned out to be too much slack in the windshield washer fluid hose under the hood. I left my car with the dealer for two weeks while I was out of town and gave them permission to drive it as much as they wanted to track down the "tapping" noise that was coming from the front right side.... would only make the noise when the outside air temp was below 50 degrees F. When I came back they said they couldnt hear any noise. Total BS. I drove home and decided to look for myself... figured it out within 30 seconds of popping the hood!

The car still has one or two rattles that I have yet to track down, but the two big ones are taken care of.

The only rattling in my Prius v is from the lower glove compartment lid. I'll see if some felt pads from the local hardware store can fix it

My dealer was able to finally able to fix my persistent rattle: the cup holder. I'm not sure exactly what they did, but since they seem to use insulating tape for everything else, I assume they used it in there, too. Like when someone stops punching you in the head and you realize that you have a headache, I now realize that my car does something else: it creaks. It creaks a lot!

This is not some "you're way too sensitive" kind of thing. This is like "look around to see if the door is ajar" kind of creaks. It sounds like the rubber seals on the doors are chattering with the flex of the car. With the ride seemingly getting more and more harsh over time, I'm honestly becoming concerned with its structural integrity.

I have 2014 v that had a rattle I've chased for over a year. In the process of chasing the rattle I've torn apart many interior components many times. FINALLY, figured out the RATTLE,RATTLE,RATTLE was coming from the gray plastic trim piece over the seat track of the rear driver's side passenger seat. I think it's there to prevent you from scuffing your shoes when you're sitting in the back seat. I have to believe someone else must have this same rattle because it's so noticeable and pervasive!

My '14 v three has about 2100 miles on it now and remains (...knock on plastic ;)) rattle free.

I certainly sympathize with you folks that are victim to interior knocks and rattles. I just wanted to comment about the Prius plastics, though.

I replaced my '12 Subaru Forester, that I purchased new, with my new '14 v. Although some owners think that Toyota uses inferior or cheap plastics and fasteners, I'd invite you to explore the quality of other makes/models. My past car, for example was brand new with only a couple of hundred miles on it when I developed a rear hatch rattle/squeak. I took it to the dealer (twice) and they "lubed the hatch gasket" to resolve the issue. It never solved the problem...and only resulted in a film of road crud sticking to the grease bead they laid on the entire gasket. What a mess...

Then, the shifter area and dashboard developed squeaks and rattles... which I determined to be ill-fitted plastics. I used foam tape to stop some of the annoyances. The dash plastics would creak and squeak if you simply touched them (like adjusting the front vents, or leaning on the front armrest). And the door fabric and carpets?...don't get me started. I sold the car at 23000 miles and was glad to get rid of it.

My Pruis, in contrast, seems to me to have sturdier and more well-fitted plastics than I was used to. The pieces appear to be a little more robust and better fitted (finer gaps...I presume it's a better-quality contractor). And the carpet may not be the best but it surpasses what I had in the old ride.

So, it's not a Lexus or a MB vehicle, but I like the ride quality... and the build quality is better-than-most, in my humble opinion.

I'm noticing a noise in the same situation (cold temps, over bumps) coming from the front dash area. Not what I would call a creak, but more of a click, or a tap. I'll be investigating further tomorrow to make sure the noise isn't "self-inflicted," as someone said above.

Mine had scarcely any rattles when I bought it (at 3½ years of age). Now the upper glove compartment or its latch rattles non-stop whenever the car is moving.

I'd suggest a couple of thin, stick-on fabric "dots" (similar to drawer closing cushions) to cure your glove box rattle. I've used this idea over the years on a couple of cars...the fabric "cushion" eliminates the plastic-on-plastic squeak/rattle.

I have a 2013 Prius V, and there is a rattle from right-rear seat. Twice into dealer about it. Dealership wants to replace the seat track, and next an FTS (Toyota Field Tech Spec) will inspect and recommend. It sounds like a coil-spring of some sort is vibrating.

Wow, I have the exact same rattle, same seat, and it's driving my Wife and me crazy. Please let me know if they ever fixed the problem and exactly how they fixed the rattle.

As mentioned by others, my 2010 liftback was a rattler. My 2012 v wagon is pretty darn quiet, BUT, I have found, depending on what position the rear seats are adjusted to, they rattle! I assume it is because they must be a bit loose to move back and forth on the tracks. There is no noise when someone is sitting on them. If positioned a tad forward and put the seat backs also toward the front, rather than reclined or straight up, not a sound. You can take your fist and slam on the seats and definitely find that noise, could also be where the seats pivot to and fro, without any weight against them.

in my '91 miata, you had to tilt the passenger seat back, and jam it against the back to keep it from rattling.

In the roadster, removing the passenger seat altogether served that purpose... And provided more space for the Coleman cooler.

Things must have gone downhill since the 2012 v Five, on which none of these nags are evident.
