The fuse for the accessories can blow and then the outlet stops working Had that happen an hour into a 28 hour road trip, of course because we had all the phones and laptops charging.

As for the battery, $100 non-AGM vs $200 AGM doesn't seem like a big deal. Just do it right the first time, and go out to one less dinner to make up the difference.

Wheel bearing:

I didn't watch the video, but when working on the rears you should still disconnect the 12v so that the skid control ECU doesn't log a DTC.

And for future information if you are planning on doing front brakes or anything else, the Prius is NOT like a normal car. Even when "off", it is ready to go and some things require a techstream button or some morse code via paper clip shorting...

 

I don’t care if it’s Florida or NYC. You are not going to find a working Gen II Prius for $1200. Unless it’s you dads or relative as a hand me down gift.

I saw an ad on c-list that has 437,000 miles for $3999 in FLORIDA. Tampa to be exact.

You got lucky with the private sale. But the way. The way you wrote it makes it sound like there are tons of $1200 Prius out there.

Rear wheel bearing replacement pretty easy, other than rust and galding issues. Identical to Corolla/Vibe of similar years - at least that was the youtube video I watched prior to doing mine.

As for 12v battery can get the Toyota one. No need to get an Optima.

 

The only tough part of replacing a rear wheel bearing is that they tend to rust in place. Use your favorite penetrating oil. An air hammer can help break the rust bond. The trick that has worked the best for me is to knock out all the wheel studs. Then use two 1/2" bolts and nuts slipped through the stud holes as pullers. The brake shoes need to be removed for clearance. The 1/2" puller bolts will dent the brake backing plate.
