DTC symbol

    I have a 2005 Prius. The red triangle and the MIL check engine light came on the dash AND a image came up on Information screen: a car with an exclamation point.

    Can you tell me what the car exclamation point symbol means?

    And there is diagnostic scan tool with CAN on ebay for $45: OBD 2 U581. Is it worth buying?

    You should get the MiniVCI cable from Ebay or Amazon. That is only $25 or less and it's much better, you just need an older laptop running windows.

    Those symbols mean there is problem with your car.

    That means the hybrid vehicle ECU has logged a problem with the hybrid drivetrain.

    As previously suggested, get Mini VCI from amazon.com
