No she never replied to the email. I sent two.
This morning I called her to let her know I would be there, and was told she had a family emergency and was out for the day. :cautious:
So now I had to start the story all over again to a girl supposedly taking over her service orders. I got her email address and said please make sure the technicians are made aware of a possible leak of water in the dash causing connection issues to the ECU skid control area. She said she would look for the email and also let them know.. what I don't like is when you talk to these people the phones are ringing OFF the hook in the background, and this lady (just like the other one) sounds very hurried 'yes we will let the technicians know blalba' and I don't think they are 'hearing me'

Also the other Service Advisor on Saturday said she would give me a loaner today, and this new girl said she would have to get that approved by the Service Manager.

    Not happy.. ball dropped again.
I feel that I'm stuck in a perpetual loop.
That dealership is too big, and my old piece of crap prius is pretty far down their list. :(

When you go to pick up your loaner vehicle, try to meet with the tech working on your car, to avoid your message being filtered by the service writer middleman (or woman). Since your car's repair has been delayed it is natural for you to want to discuss your car's problem first-hand with the person responsible for fixing it.

You might also meet with the service manager to express your concerns about the way the repair process has unfolded.

Did you get the windshield tinted as well? The skid control ECU is mounted above the Brake pedal and accelerator pedal. Kind of a long way from the doors.

Yes I did get the windows tinted, and they also put a 'tint strip' along the top of the front big windshield.
They couldn't install the Escort radar, and swear they didn't begin the install on that.. so I think water very easily got down the dash area as that big long 6 inch tint strip is at the top of the windshield along where the rear view mirror is..

Oh that says a lot, I thought they only did the windows.

Yes it does say alot JC. I just realized it too I didn't explain that well in this forum. The location of that big long tint strip is right over the big long Prius dash. The way I am seeing this watery messy window tinting process I am now absolutely SURE that water easily went down to that ECU area. Patrick I think is the one that pointed that out.. I told a friend that is very good with cars, airplanes (they are a pilot) who sold me the car, and said BINGO that makes sense the water theory, that is it Pam, that guy NAILED IT on that scenario!

I just received a call from the Service Manager and right off the bat he said 'what is going on with your car, and what did you have done at Freeman Toyota'? I told him the whole story, and how they wanted to replace the ECU for 3 grand, and I asked them to please clear the codes, which they did, and then I started receiving the wheel sensor codes (replaced it) and continued having ABS lights issues, this time new codes pointing to communication failure to the ECU. I said I am a member of the Prius Chat Community where several senior members who know these prius's well, and I have some information that should be looked at.

The Service Manager said 'Well it's your ECU.. that is what we are getting just like Freeman'. Now when I think about he sounds pissed... I told him please before I do that would he please look into the water possibly getting down in there, and the connections should be cleaned and checked? So he said 'okay I will have them do that and drive it and call you back in a couple of hours' and then before I hung up another call was coming in. I checked voicemail after hanging up and it was that Service Manager Desmond from the first dealer that I did not like (and they had terrible reviews). He left a message saying 'Pam this Desmond at Freeman please call me back I need to talk to you'!

    LOL

So now I have two service managers at both toyotas that are talking to each other and I can almost HEAR them say 'stupid broad doesn't want to buy a new ECU so she is taking it all over trying to get out of it'!!

It should be my right and choice to take my car where I want to take it, but now I have this latest Toyota dealer S.M. copping an attitude with me because the other service manager is telling him 'we tried to tell her that two weeks ago it was her ECU'

Yours is probably a different number. That one is the newer number which replaced the one your car came with.

Well if you pursue it with the tint shop, they'll be happy to buy a ECU for $40 vs $3300

I wish.. this shop is saying I have an old car, and they deal with tons of Prius's every month, and never would have done anything to my car, it's not them it's me. so no dice there ..

just gonna eat it as I'm already into a 1000.00 and it's still not fixed! I don't make that kind of money to throw around!
