I am convinced there must be a thread on this, but I couldn't find it after a brief search.

Plug-in Prius owners: What is the furthest you've travelled on a single tank of gas? Judging by my limited experience, it should be pretty easy in some situations to regularly hit over 2000 km (1242 miles) on a single PiP tank.

For me it would be tough to do it regularly, but it would be possible to it occasionally, although my wife borrowing my car from time to time to drive 40 km away then back again doesn't help my EV distance per tank that's for sure. However, I'm sure those with say 10 km commutes each way could easily hit 2000 km or much more on each tank if they can charge at work.

My best tank was 1045 mile.

765 miles over 16 days, with a breakdown of 556 miles HV and 209 miles EV. However with a 90 mile daily round trip commute with no work charging it's unlikely I'll ever break records in this category. It is worth it to note I do have 4745 EV miles on my 2014 out of a total of 34371 miles as of my last fill up in a little under 18 months of ownership.

My best to date is 1,720. Today I should hit 1,000 with about half a tank remaining.

I don't have a best, but I am pretty darn impressed I only fill the tank after over 500 miles. So infrequent I have to remind myself how to put gas in.

3,640 miles. it's in the spreadsheet, if any new members care to use it.

Indeed. I thought it would be a pain having plug in the EVSE all the time. Well, at home I mounted a used Leaf charger so I never have to unpack it from the trunk and repack it up again so that saves time. Since it's on an uncovered driveway, it means I don't have to stand out in the rain rolling up a wet and dirty cable to put in my trunk. I still have to do that at work, but the parking lot is covered so no standing out in the rain or wet EVSE at the end of the day.

So while there is time spent dealing with the EVSE, it's minimal each day, and it saves having to make a detour to go to the gas station. It's esp. bad in my area since the cheaper gas stations usually have lineups, and it's sometimes tough with very young kids in the car. They hate stopping at red lights for some reason, and 5-10 minutes at a gas station (including line up time, filling time, and payment time) sometimes is the end of the world for them for some reason. And I hate it that they hate it, because when they hate it, it means they're crying. And when the automatic pay at the pump doesn't work, I have to get them out of the car and bring them in with me to the cashier.

These are all reasons to go all the way for a pure EV, but in my case I'm happy with the fillup only every 4-6 weeks.

Ah yes. I will take a look at it, as I was just about to create my own spreadsheet for my own data.

Isn't this completely meaningless? If you're doing short trips and always have charger available, take it easy on the gas pedal, the engine would only come on when forced by the computer?

I say "completely", cause I'm not a big fan of stretching tanks on a REGULAR Prius, lol.

I'll have a look thanks. I hadn't participated in that thread previously.

I'm curious, so not completely meaningless to me. I'm interested in how many out there in this forum that use the vehicle essentially like an EV with occasional hybrid backup, vs. how many don't get much EV benefit out of it at all.

Everyone (including myself) always says that a 10 mile range is way too short, but it would seem to me that for those getting over 2000 km regularly, 10 miles is actually decent enough. And there is already someone here who got over 3000 km at least once.

But perhaps my question should have been, "What's the furthest you've traveled on a single tank of gas, and what do you usually get?"

Stated it in this way your question is similar to the question which percentage of EV different people have. For example, my percentage is 80% EV, and therefore I usually drive around 5000 km in the period in which I use one tank of gas. I use one tank a year, which is the recommended minimum (twice a year half a tank). For example, last year I drove 5122 km (3200 miles), of which 20% was HV, which is 1024 km (640 miles) and I drove in HV 25.14 km on 1 liter, so the 1024 km took 40.7 liter (which indeed is about one tank).

So, indeed some are able to use the car mainly as an EV, and I am one of them (but not the only one), and then you make many km's without filling your tank again.

maybe you want lifetime mpge or something that would show efficiency, rather than ev/hv miles.
