What is the reason for a sluggish SKS response? For example, I walk over to my car and I have to wait longer and longer for the locks to open for me. When I get tired of waiting sometimes I take the fob out of my purse and press the unlock button and that also is sluggish, I have to press a bunch of times before it unlocks. Sometimes when starting the car, the missing key light comes on initially - but that generally is not as unresponsive or as sluggish as the lock opening process. Does this point to fob battery? Fob failure? or the car's SKS signal recognition system failure. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. I drive late at night frequently and fumbling to open the locks in the middle of the night in a dark parking lot is making me uncomfortable.
The fob battery is probably weak and needs to be replaced. The battery lasts about 2 years in my Gen 3 and Camry fobs.
Who knows? But very simply the easiest first step is to simply replace your Fob battery. If the symptoms go away? Great. If you replace the battery and the symptoms remain? Well you've ruled out one possibility But if you haven't replaced the fob battery that is the rather obvious first step.
I agree with the above. If this is your first time replacing the battery, you need to purchase a CR2032.
I found that if I have my cell phone in my same pocket as my keys it can cause this. I guess it's some interference between the two. Maybe if you phone is in your purse with your keys you are getting the same problem
