I took the Prius to my local Toyota dealership for the 15,000 mile service (at 13,000 miles) last week and I also had an alignment done because it is recommended for it to be done after installing the TDR lowering springs.

Well, I drove off and everything is fine, however I go to park the Prius with the sunlight hitting the dash and the floor and notice on the carpet to the right of the foot rest there is a blotch of grease. I always expect there to be scratches on the door panels and door sills (that I can hopefully remove with a microfiber towel and water), but a blotch of grease on the carpet really got me upset. I called the director at the dealership and complained. The director said I can take the Prius in and they will clean the carpet.

I'm tired of carpet. Are there any vinyl or other materials to replace the carpet? I would like something that I can just wipe off clean, preferably non-scratching. Are there any options out there? Or do I just need to cover everything up before I drop my car off so that nothing gets stained?

    Thank you.

You could get WeatherTech mats. They are custom made for your car and they fit well. I live in Chicago and I keep mine in year round. I like them in winter and summer. I have them in a new Avalon. I like them better than carpet. Easy to clean.

I would stick with carpet, deal with that grease blob, likely the first and last time. Pulling out carpet would be way too extreme; laying plastic floor mats is more practical.

It's actually kinda strange: mechanics are for the most part pretty diligent now, throw blankets on the seats when they drive your car. Bit of a puzzle how grease would end up there: was there similar grease on door hinges? That'd be my guess. Or grease excessively applied to the pedal linkage at the factory, and maybe the knocked some off, doing the (famous) floor mat check, or connecting to OBDII port?

Definitely, I have the OEM Toyota all-weather floor mats that came included with the Prius. However, it does not cover the area that was stained. I was referring to the floor carpeting. I took a picture below...

Yes, the logical and definitely cheaper thing to do would be to clean the carpet, which is exactly what I am having Toyota do. I was just wondering if there are any other alternatives to carpet. I guess going forward, I will lay out blankets to cover the areas outside of the all-weather floor mats.

They're not cheap, but I really like the Maxpider carpet mats. I have a set for my Tacoma. They're molded for custom fit and are curved upwards on the edges to retain spills/mud. They're easy to clean and look more like carpet than the Weathertech vinyl mats. They've held up really well in the year I've had them.

Again, not cheap, but comparable in price to the Weathertechs.

That carpet surrounding the dead pedal will eventually get dirty. There is no avoiding it.

My dealership which seems to do fine actual "work" IS a little careless in how they return the car to me.

I have weathertech floor liners...which usually appear with boot prints after service.
And whomever is moving my vehicle from service bay to pick-up parking space, has always adjusted my seat forward, resulting in some painful re-entry moments.

Ideally I think the service department should be paying more careful attention to how they return your vehicle. Most have those "paper liners" that they put down and then throw away.

Or is that just in the restroom?

    ^^ Agreed.
Any truly customer-service oriented business will key on the total customer experience. They're neanderthal not to. Most stealerships are still in the mid 20th century in terms of customer service. Some first-class dealerships, like Nalley in ATL, know how to do it right. That doesn't mean you're not going to pay dearly for it, however.

To avoid getting the area dirty, I rest my left foot on the floor mat and have become accustomed to this.
