I seem to recall this lighting up whenever I accelerated past the "eco" threshold. But now it just stays grayed out and doesn't light up. (See arrow indication in pic below) Maybe it never did but I can't remember for sure. Is it supposed to light up? If so, could it just be a fuse is out? Not really a big deal to me but still curious about it.
Press hard on the accelerator pedal as you are accelerating the car, and that PWR light should come on.
That's not a light. It's a progress bar. Starts off from the left when you accelerate and moves to the right, the pwr section is when you're at full power, the entire bar would be filled
Yes, but shouldn't the "pwr" light up when you are in full acceleration and the entire bar is filled?
No EV mode. Tried it in power mode, ECO and niether, but still won't light up when in full acceleration.
Well, the basic warranty is 3 years *or* 36k miles. Mine has under 36k but as it is a 2011, it's more than three years old. I was wondering if it might be a fuse, but why would a little backlight like that need its own individual fuse? It doesn't affect performance or anything else as far as I can tell.
The Power bar should turn light red when in the Power Zone. Any chance you have difficulty seeing red?
Not that I know of. But I can see no change in color/hue/brightness when in the power zone. And I was referring to the "PWR" directly under the rightmost part of the bar, not the bar zone itself.
The "PWR" light will only illuminate if you press the PWR button by the shifter. Same with the "ECO" light. Both lights are on the left side of the MFD. The "ECO" light you see above the sliding scale will only illuminate if you are below the power zone (the last three or four bars on the right IIRC.) There is no "PWR" light above the scale, even if you are in the power zone, only the bars are red.
The letters PWR do not change, if that is what you are referring to. Just the power bar changes from white to red as it moves right in to the PWR zone.
To my eyes the power bar never changes color. I am partially color blind so if there is "red", "green" or other colors, then they must be pretty darn washed out and not very vibrant. These are the "colors" I see:
The Power Zone red bar is fairly light in color. Others have complained about not being able to see this and the red arrows on the screen that shows the parallel mechanical and electrical power flow of the PSD.
Now THESE are colors I can see! May not be able to identify every one, but I can see they are all different, vibrant and colorful. I can see absolutely ZERO similarity between these colors and what others see in the pic above. Those look totally devoid of color compared to the this pic below
I see green, white and red on that picture... not sure how you're seeing grey for the red part lol...
Yes, the color on the HSI is pretty crappy. It's a Vacuum Fluorescent Display, chosen for being inexpensive and durable, rather than pretty. They honestly do look pretty much all grey, so the colorblind among us aren't missing anything there. The bottom half of the HSI bar is a greenish-grayish color, like a light navy green. The top half is a very light green, but not far from white. The PWR bar is a faded red or pink color, while the "PWR" letters are a darker red. The colors are muted, and I wouldn't be surprised if another trichromat (i.e. "normal" color vision) would argue over those names. The color bars are absolutely very vibrant - white, yellow, cyan, green, magenta, red, and blue. It's much less likely that anybody would argue over those, at least as long as they're familiar with cyan and magenta. To the best of my knowledge, the bars never change color, and the PWR letters never light up. Different parts of the bar are filled in as different colors, as noted above (so in some sense, you might say the bar "changes color" in that way). And it's always possible that something has changed since I bought my car 5 years ago. There is a separate "PWR Mode" light on the dash that illuminates if you press the button to turn on PWR Mode - similar to the ECO Mode light if you use ECO.
