I had it switched to 1 beep at the dealer. Do it on one if your service trips, since you're in there anyway, it takes almost no time to make the change. My dealer didn't charge, but even if they did charge a nominal amount, it's a lot cheaper the psychiatric therapy from that damn beep.

Sitting at Toyota of Greer, South Carolina and I asked for the beep to be changed to one beep and I was told "the district manager made the decision not to change any reverse beeps" Now I must find a dealership that will.

That's annoying. You might try getting one of these Bluetooth OBD units; they're $15-20 on Amazon. Then you can not only silence the back-up beep, but also the seatbelt beep! Join the beeple!

I hated the seatbelt beep almost as much as I hated the backup beep. Put a heavy piece of equipment on the front seat and it beeps occasionally, then accelerates until it's a constant beep-beep-beep-beep! GIVE ME A EFF-ING BREAK. Turned it off. Sure, I see the red "seatbelt" light and that's a handy thing. But no. more. beep.

While you guys are at it, disabling seatbelt and reverse beeps, don't forget the annoying horn on the steering wheel! :D

These steps worked for me! Only issue I had was trying to use my Galaxy Nexus phone to connect to the device. I kept getting errors. I used my android tablet and it worked great. Thanks for the steps.

I know "BEEP" that I'm "BEEP" in the min- "BEEP"- ority here. But I actually "BEEP" like the back "BEEP" up beep.

I don't "BEEP" get the vast "BEEP" hatred for it?

    This worked perfectly! Thank you!
I had the Bluetooth adapter, so it was free.

By the way, for those trying it for the first time, once you're in the app; (since it took me a few minutes to figure it out)
Don't forget to hit "menu" on your Android and "Connect". Once you're connected, click "Timer off". You're now ready to put in codes, not in the larger white box,
put your codes in the small bottom left corner.

I turned off the backup and seat belt beeps.

What other codes are out there?

It isn't working with ELM327 v2.1. I get different codes:

    >AT I
    ELM327 v2.1

    >AT SH 7c0
    OK

    >21ac
    61 AC 8F 5B
    (instead of 61 AC 00)

When I bought v1.5 it works ok.

I finally got the courage this weekend and hooked up my PC and booted up the Techstream program. I successfully turned off the backup beep. While I was in there I also programmed a new smart key, turned off the passenger seatbelt reminder beep (I set my briefcase there on my way to work), and now all the doors unlock when I grab the door handles. The process was kind of intimidating, but well worth it.

Man, I wish I had it in front of me now. I'm not exactly sure, but I think there's a customization tab that you select to get there.

Take a look at this link. This is pretty much everything I found while poking around. (Reminder that this is for the lift back, but pretty much the same.)
