Look closely in the image below, within the white oval, just above the piece of paper that says "jar label". The one for show, aka the "paperweight", is below the glass tabletop. My friend sent me both of the Beat-Sonic shark fins, part #'s FDA31-070 and the FDA42-070. He didn't know which would fit my Prius. (y)

    What brand wheels are those?

True, but not much could be done with it plus its held in place with real bolts or screws which is a big deterrent and it's not an item people would like to steal. Two way tape is not a big deterrent. Someone could just come by and rip it off and place it on their vehicle. Lol :p

Someone could steal your lawn chairs and sell them for scrap metal money…:(

why do you think a shark fin antenna is an item thieves would "Like to steal"? I would assume a wallet, phone, iPad, Laptop, etc sitting on your seat or dash is more tempting to a scumbag than an aftermarket antenna! lol!…… Another reason I have 5% tint...

I guess we have to believe in the inherent good in people...;)

Here in CA, they just use a pair of tin snips to cut off the last number and the registration sticker off the license plate, to put on their stolen car.

Takes a couple of seconds...

For starters it's a cosmetic item that people are putting on their cars that didn't come with one. Just like the white fin posted above did not come with our cars, but it's a mod people are doing. Same goes for other people with differnt makes and models who want that BMW look.

And I used to work at my cousins auto shop and we scrap metals for cash. I also know a few scrapers. Lawn chairs isn't an item on the list worth scrapping unless you're a beggar looking for crack money. Copper, cadiliatic converters, aluminum, and heavy steel parts from cars are. Pipes are decent too. You'd have to steal a hundreds of pounds worth of lawn chairs to get something. Lol

I understand the point you're trying to make as in everything/anything is worth stealing or can be stolen, but I feel you're missing my point as in the shark fin is only held on by tape. It should have been a better design using at least one screw or bolt to hold it in place.

I respectfully have to disagree with your last statement. I personally would Def not want a screw into my roof!! Would you?? I don't even have the shark fin, but if I did ever get it (my worry is worse radio/xm reception) I would use the tape method and live with the risk of a pos stealing my shark fin..lol!

I would think most common thief's wouldn't even glance twice at a silly shark fin antennae..It looks like its meant to be there so unless you know otherwise or tamper with it forcefully no ones the wiser..

    Getting anything stolen totally blows...

Tape is enough I couldn't even move it by one hand. I don't care if they steal i can just replace it.

Recieved my most expensive part for the Prius & I was afraid to install that expensive delicate part, I didn't want to break it. But I did it! image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Blizzard, my Mercedes antenna was screwed in from the factory to the antenna hardware. There is no hole from the screw to the roof bc it screws in to the antenna hardware. If you remove the antenna hardware from either car you will have a hole because of the antenna hardware. The Toyota Prius OEM antenna is screwed in. To remove it you have to unscrew the long antenna. They could have easily made it to where a tiny screw fits there from the top of the shark fin to safely secure it.

Edit: I never said to make a hole in the roof. Come on dude, don't over think it. This is what I'm talking about. You see the tiny screw? They could have made a hole on top of the fin or on the back side depending on the angle and had a screw that was long enough to secure it. Another reason I'm not a big fan of two way tape because over time it will lose its adhesive ness. There could be a tiny hole in the two way ape that could lead to water Settling and causing rust, but with a screw it could help the two way tape and make it a tighter fit where it won't loosen up from the heat on the roof and also you can add a gasket. My mercedes had a gasket to protect from the weather.
