I thought it looked cool as well initially untill I saw the install imperfections and realized just how dark it was. We did slap on a 3" test strip before I left the car at the shop and that did not seem that dark. Oh well. I would have had them do a lite 50% but they don't have the lite tail tint and I figured I'd put that $75 credit towards my roof wrap. I can't wait to see how that turns out.

Found nice parking near work today, somewhat of a difficult feat to accomplish in downtown Palo Alto. I do see a plus package one around here as well.

Drove the PIP down to San Marcos to pick up a small roll of mass loaded vinyl and some closed cell foam so I can further torture myself trying to damp road noise, this time I'll be attacking the floor and if I have enough leftover material, I want to test a MLV barrier behind the door panel. I am happy with the results I got from dynamat and Frost King on the doors, but very curious how much quieter a proper MLV barrier would be.
A couple weeks ago, I tried using Frost King in the rear cargo area such as the rear wheel wells and in the "tub" that is underneath the big Li-Ion battery, and was disappointed with the results.

I bought them via buyee.jp. The vendor is kachouo_n.

    "G's"の検索結果 /【Buyee】 "Buyee" 日本の通販商品・オークションの代理入札・代理購入

If you do buy from that vendor, you need to submit a message to the buyee.jp folks that you want the vendor to include the adapter harness. There's an extra charge, and the vendor won't include it if you don't ask before they ship.

    Awesome! Questions:
    1. Does this version have the blue stitching or is it black (can't tell from the picture)?
    2. The site is only in Japanese. How were able to translate?
    3. How much was the shipping?

    1. I got the one with blue stitching
    2. The site is in English if you click the "English" button at the top. Product descriptions go through Google translate, but you have to select "English" on the drop-down menu.
    3. Shipping was 7,486 JPY, plus 25,450 JPY, total cost around $274 USD.

Don't blame me if you start spending a lot of money now. :)

Today I installed some of the mass loaded vinyl. In the front, I didn't feel like or have time for removing the center console and bridge, so there is not a wall to wall layer across the front. In the front, I placed a layer of yoga mat over the stock Toyota jute material and the styrofoam foot rests and just layed the MLV over the yoga mat. I used yoga mat because it's a reinforced 1/8" closed cell foam and is very tough so it can handle my wrestling with it much better than the sound proofing store's CCF that I will use for the rest of the car.

For the rear seat area, I pulled the seat and all the hardware and I used the proper closed cell foam.
Lesson learned: MLV is a hateful material when you're dealing with all the compound curves under the back seat and floor. It's heavy, it doesn't flex well at all and takes way more tweaking and test fitting than you'd imagine.

When I started the back, I thought I'd finish in about 4 hours. It took 6 hours. I started with test fitting the closed cell foam, which is very easy to work with and then used the CCF as a template for cutting the MLV to roughly the right size and shape. I then tried test fitting the MLV in the car and spent at least another hour fine tuning the cuts and getting that spiteful material to fit well enough that I could cut bolt holes and prep it for contact cementing the CCF to it. Nice thing about contact cement is it forces you to take 15 minute breaks as you let the glue set. That waiting on the glue accounted for 1 hour of delay.

Once the CCF/MLV was cut, shaped and glued together, I then had to wrestle it into place and get all the brackets and seat belt stuff bolted back on. That was a real b*tch. The final step of getting the carpet to lay back down was also a b*tch, given the 1/4" of extra material.

Tomorrow, I may tackle the cargo area and wheel wells, if I my back is up to it after spending hours being contorted into the rear seat area for several hours today.

Rear seat area as I started removing brackets and stuff. Props to Toyota for the amount of sound deadener they applied back there.

I received and installed my engine cover kit. Looks great. I did have to adjust one hole over the inverter but it's nice a secure.

I picked up my Prius (or how my girlfriend calls it, "The Mistress") from Luscious Garage in San Francisco after getting the following installed:
    • JDM power folding mirrors with LED winker lights
    • JDM LED headlights
    • TRD lowering springs
    • Remote Engine Start (RES)
    • OEM fog lights
A huge thank you to @sfprankster for recommending this place to me. Top notch customer service. If you are in the Bay Area California and need parts installed, or general service, this is the place to go. They even took off $200 because they performed the work in less time than quoted for. True honesty right there. I provided all of the installation instructions in color print-outs. Greg was my installer and he was able to install everything without any issues and did such an amazing job.

Don't mind the stuff on the front bumper, the Prius has not been washed for some time.
