    Midas will put a cheapo made in 3rd world hell junk muffler on and it will be rusted out in 2 years

    midas is overpriced and cheap is what I learned. working on getting the correct muffler for now.

    the curse of the tax return strikes, driving back from visiting the inlaws 150 miles away the car light up vsc, brake, engine light. exclamation points galore. we pulled over and waited for help then she shut down and did not start up again getting her towed to the Toyota dealership because firestone didn't have a hybrid mechanic, any ideas or price ranges, thanks

    Could be a LOT of things.
    Read the codes.
    If the codes point in conflicting directions, change out the 12 V battery.

    Also check your fuses. I had a couple crazy alerts this summer - ended up being a fuse.

    1 week and 2 mechanics later it turns out it was the pump for the hybrid motor that was on recall, my car is returned and all is better with the world, now back to saving money for mods

    latest issue replaced the headlight only to discover they were the expensive ones not the cheap ones I thought they were, so I took the cheap ones to the mechanic to get them replaced and was surprised at what they costs, also I'm the only prius my mechanic works on so I think I paid them to learn how to change the headlights not aweson

    You installed 'expensive' vs 'cheap' headlights? No following what you mean.

    The installation of the headlights is pretty easy...videos online of lusciousgarage doing one in less than 10min...where i learned it too.

    turns out I had the hid headlights, not the $10 ones that come up when you look them up at autozone

    Ooh..the bulbs. I thought you meant the assembly. But regardless of halogen or HID, its ridiculous how much it costs to change a Gen2 prius bulb from the stealership. Lusciousgarage has a video for just the bulbs as well... or did on YouTube.
