I know this may seem a little weird, but I have a 2008 base model and it doesn't have fog lights. This was not an issue where I used to live, but I moved recently to a coastline where dense fog is a daily occurrence. I did not think this was a major issue until I tried driving in it with my Sylvania headlights and they were just not cutting through the fog. Now getting OEM fog lights would be the easiest but I wanted to do something different and unusual for my car. So I was wondering if I would be able to install this light bar within the front bumper ( It will fit based on measurements)
    with this wiring harness

based on measurements and voltage I don't think it is a problem (I installed lightbars before on my truck) but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks Y'all.

If it measure up, it will fit and should work great.

I too have considered an LED bar for the cool factor

They do add a cool factor to a vehicle for sure, I have 3 on my F-250 and it helps with visibility, and makes it look menacing as well

I think that you're going to find that they won't "cut through" the fog as much as simply reflect the water droplets with a higher intensity. If you can find a yellow tint to cover them, it might help. But don't get your hopes up too much. For $50, it's certainly worth a try.

I don't know if this is the final word regarding fog lights, but it's a word.

Have you heard of Younger Optics "Drivewear" lenses? You'll find fog lenses much more effective than fog lamps and if you are over 50 the increased contrast may save a life. I hear Costco has them now under $200

The fog is usually less dense just above the ground, and is more dense at your eye level. That's why the for lights are located low. To see better in fog you need fog lights that would shine DOWN along the road but not UP (the up portion would just reflect from dense fog to your eyes and blind you).
The same logic would also tell us to use fog lights WITHOUT headlights to see better in fog. Unfortunately Toyota wired the fog lights to come with headlights that makes them pretty much useless in fog. (I have changed the wiring in my car so fogs will come without headlights but with marker lights).

LED strips would look cool and work good as Daytime Running lights, but not good in fog for 2 reasons. 1) they are not producing narrow, flat beam with defined cutoff and 2) they are usually cool white light, >5000 K which is being scattered strongly by water droplets.

The best fog light would be yellow (~3800...4000K) HID (high intensity discharge, the ones that require ballasts) with wide beam and sharp cutoff. For real fog driving I would recommend aftermarket projector fog lights (e.g. by HELLA), and I would put yellow HID bulb set in it.

    Thanks,
    - Alex

I added a 8" LED light bar to assist with reversing as my limo tint and tinted taillights made it hard to see in reverse even with the backup camera... so

As mentioned you may need to look into painting the lens yellow to assist with actual assisting with viability. I've painted lenses with yellow metalcast before with a fog light retrofit and it turned out great. You may want to also look for the spot version. Mine is a flood version LED bar.

Maybe, get some clear stuff to protect the tint too.

That is a nice looking ride there, I was looking at the spot/flood hybrid light bars with the yellow tinting. The main issue I am having with, is wiring. I found a wiring harness that will work with the light beautifully, but I wanted to see if you had any suggestions regarding wiring without making it look half-assed.

This was the best fog lights upgrade option I've done so far. This was on my 2008. I still have yet to upgrade my fog lights on my current 2007.

Mines a 2007 gray. The next thing i want to do is wire in a switch so i can turn it on whenever I want instead of only reverse.

I totally hate these things when people are driving on the road with them on- they completely blind oncoming traffic. But these things are GREAT when used off-road or when used only with the high beams (i.e. no other drivers in front of you, facing either way)

So I'm getting a 20" Cree spot/flood light bar with a separate harness, but before I order it, is it difficult to wire through the 08 firewall. I'm looking at my car now and can't seem to find the grommet.

Its on the right beside/behind the inverter on the driver side. Right below the wiper assembly.
