like @cwerdna said, we were (and probably still are) not at liberty to discuss the prices or discount that was offered. I can tell you that at there were 3 vehicles for offer: Prius III, Prius IV w/ Solar Roof and Prius V w/ AT.

On display were a Prius III in Sandy Beach Metallic/Bisque, Prius IV SR in Blue Ribbon Metallic/Dark Grey & Prius V AT in Winter Grey/Misty Grey

True but if the big boss in Japan says no leaks, well, there's not much you can do about it.

To me, the best part was a photo of Gen3 concept art (similar to my profile pic) signed by the Gen3 chief engineer!

I just remember the utter (not) entusiasm from the toyota reps at the Philly auto show when questioned about the Gen4….

    Blah, Blah, Blah! errr…shrug, shrug,shrug….

    ……."so you have nothing"?

    Ok…

    Thanks…

So, the Prius Team is blown away with an image of the 4th gen ..... ok. Let's see (in a fewww months) if the car will 'blow away' mainly Prius enthusiasts, or will it blow away Prius enthusiasts plus a whole lot more ordinary car shoppers who have never bought any type of advanced technology car before.

I love your post cycledrum. "Blown away" could very easily have a negative interpretation.

Here is my question: What else would you expect the "Prius Team" to say? I am certainly not going to base my opinion on the word of the "Marketing" firm.

Let's recap. Diane (whose opinion I have had great respect for) said the G4 "will knock your socks off." and now this, "blown away." "Knock," "blown" .... sounds like we are going to be bumped around a bit. My only concern with Diane's comment is that she MAY have seen and be referring to the design before the "big boss man" axed it and sent the designers back to the drawing board. Electing to take the positive interpretation, I am excited, and can hardly wait. But I am going to make my own judgement.

So here we are on page 196 ...... and we still know virtually nothing about a new G4, no teasers, no reliable rumors, we do not even know if will be a 2016 or even a 2017.

I think even the more ardent Prius supporters are hoping the next gen, after all this time, is something that more than 2% to 3% of the buying public wants. It matters only a tiny bit if the mpg is 55 or 60. In fact, most of the watchers, not buyers, would probably put styling and interior at or near the number one and two items, with another group listing fun to drive and quieter right behind those two. If Toyota could provide CMax fun to drive, modern staying to the new car, sales might be prone to double. They did more than a modest upgrade to the new Camry, in a much shorter period of time. Beautiful styling, nicer interior, quieter. If the new Prius got 5 mpg Less but had those attributes, they'd sell more. One of the drawbacks to the Cmax is that while it has many of those things, it's a bulbous "cute" vehicle. Not a large market for fugly vehicles no matter how efficient they might be. But when I saw the new wagon, I got worried about the hatchback, which will be around for years.

Bestmapman - Patience is admirable while waiting for bread to rise, fish to bite, or the Supreme Court to release a decision, but many automobile buyers are in the market now. Our used car values are declining because of the accumulating miles, decisions must be made about purchasing a new set of tires, and maintenance cost are rising. Life expectancy of the high voltage battery, that is now out of warranty, will become a concern in the not to distant future. Patience is doable for the casual observer. I am not anxious at all about the release date for the new Tesla. Meanwhile, the competition is certainly not waiting for Toyota to make it's move.

196 pages ago, it was suggested that the New Generation Prius is coming in 2015. While there is some debate of the intent, many supposed they meant a model year 2015. Toyota has done nothing to "feed their enthusiast." The way to keep enthusiast in the fold, is to keep their interest. The casual motorist might suspect that Toyota has stopped production of the Prius. There is very little advertising; there is absolutely nothing in automotive magazines except for articles about Toyota's hydrogen fuel, and self parking. Many of us are waiting, some not so silently, to be "blown away."

Here is something for you all; 2016 Prius production startup - November (20)15 ( Source: Build-out / Start-up Dates | ARI ) I just saw this today, it was updated March 3rd...

And this other site says ordering opens up September 10, 2015. Production beginning November 30, 2015. It also lists info for 2016 Prius c and v for those interested. Link: Toyota Cars: Build-out and Start-Up Dates

I only find em' (You've gotta love google), I cannot vouch if they are correct though.

If that page is true and they begin end of November I don't see any way they would show up here by the end of the year, 2015. Even if they begin early to mid November, I still don't see them arriving in 2015. But hey, remain hopeful, maybe those sites are wrong. I always like to go by actual press releases and as we know, Toyota is still mum on it for now.

Matches to idea that the Plug-in will continue unchanged for another year with 2016 production starting in July 2015.

It will be revealed in (double) overtime.

If Toyota came out with 4th gen Prius liftback that gets 5 MPG less, legions of people would be fuming and frothing at the mouth, ripping into Toyota. They're looking at the non PiP as a pre-cursor to next PiP and they want the MPGs.

So in Nov, we'll be able to track the shipping carrier on it's journey to the port.
