That's kind of my plan in regards to the "Next Gen" Prius.

With a 2013, I can enjoy it, and let the first model year or two pass, get the feedback, and then decide if I want to upgrade. I seldom jump on a new model right when it is released.

I agree. When I thought last Summer Gen IV would come in 2015, I couldn't decide if I wanted to wait or get a 2014. When I found it would come in 2016, no problem. The 2014 Prius 4 will do me for some years, and I prefer NOT getting the first instance of any completely new car. I expect the Gen IV will have some real pluses, but it may take a year or two to get it completely right!

Well, my sea glass prius is about to be gone. I'm taking it back and switching out a winter gray.

Nope, it'll be an even trade since it's not been titled yet and I've put no miles on it really.

How was it not titled? Unless they put a dealer tag on it for the week you had it and let you borrow the car...

Did you not do the purchase paperwork? If you did, I find it very odd that the dealership would hold onto the registration/title paperwork for a week, further most if not all states have a "no cooling off period"..

Good luck either way I guess, just would hate to see you get even more upside down on swapping to simply a diff color car.

Couldn't take the brothers razzing re. The sea glass?

Idk, I guess Toyota financial hadn't funded it yet. I wouldn't do it if it were going to cause me a loss lol. We will see if it's as simple as they say it will be tomorrow morning.
Ohio doesn't have a cooling off period, either. They apparently made a mistake on the paperwork which I didn't notice, but they caught and wanted to get corrected. (They charged me $950 for gap insurance that was supposed to be $299 I believe)

Yes, I made the swap. Updated my profile pic. Got winter gray, identical equipment, no extra charges. All good.

I'd like to see in what way(s), if any, the 2015/2016 Prius is better than the 2013. I don't see much of anything that's been "improved" in the 3rd gen models. At least, not where the brochure is concerned.

We will have to wait and see what will be delivered, but from what I read there are improvements in following areas:
    - 20% weight reduction
    - double wishbone rear (like in CT200h?)
    - lowered engine (which means lower nose/shorter dashboard, like in C)
    - battery packed under the seat (thanks to the space saved by rear suspension)
    - and bigger trunk (no battery intrusion)
    - lower CG
    - better MPG (40km/l or 60MPG)

So, no real upgrade in "features" one would notice.

    Neither.
I'd figure out what you want your next car payment to be.
    (mine is $0)
Then I'd get a clean, used G3 and bank the difference between what these guys want you to pay for a 2015 and what you can get....say.....a 2012 for.

Any deal that includes an extended warranty and GAP is one heck of a great deal...........for the seller!

Are you trading a car in?
    if so.....don't.
    Sell it privately first.

    One last thing.
You've got the new car bug at the height of the selling season.
Many people (perhaps even you as well) have tax refunds burning a hole in their bank accounts. This means that dealers are flush with buyers just getting their electronic refunds from Uncle Sugar.

    Bad time to buy.

I would definitely buy a G3 over a G4, but if you insist on buying a new one, wait a little closer to the launch date of the 2016. Imports seem to follow calendar years for new model releases, which means that the G4 will probably hit the streets early in 2016, rather than the fall of 2015.

    Good Luck!

I think the biggest one that plug-in will be an option not a separate model. Also Etune is standard across all C model, so it is very likely be across all Gen4.

Agreed. The Gen III 2015 has most, if not all, of the "bugs" worked out/recalled. The first model year of the next gen will probably have it's own shakedown period. That being said, I purchased my 2010 in it's first model year and have had no major complaints.

The worry about new model bugs, especially in the Prius line, is probably attenuated with Toyota's history. I had one of the first 2004 Gen IIs (mfd Oct 03) and it was one of the most reliable cars I've ever had. (Still going strong for my son, with 280+K miles on it and 45+ MPG.)

It will be interesting to see if Toyota finally goes all Li-Ion or makes it optional, though the latter approach just seems strange.

I had heard that the gen IV will have a more conventional dash/instrumentation layout instead of the center-dash configuration we have now.

I'd wait until the 2016 model. They willproably be out by the end of this year. I had read that the 2016 will offer a choice of battery type. That would be interesting.
