I have a 2011 Prius II and the lights don't seem to work too well for me at night. I'm trying to modify these lights. What would be the best option for me? What bulbs should I buy or what modification should I do/ consider in order to see better at night. If someone can help me out that'd be great. Thanks.
do you have a pic? the headlights probably just need to be cleaned with this: otherwise, can always upgrade to HIDs a lot of people will refer you to The Retrofit Source Inc this is what I bought, and they work great:
Upgrade your 55w H11 halogen bulbs to 65w H9 halogen bulbs. Two easy modifications on each H9 bulb need to be done, link in my signature below, for them to fit. Look for the excellent video at the end of the thread in the linked thread. Make sure you buy name brand bulbs like Osram or Philips. Stay away from cheap Chinese stuff, and get the ones with clear glass envelopes, not blue. Read the reviews on Amazon for the Philips H9 bulbs, many people have done the upgrade and are very happy with the mod. I have done this on both of my cars, and have not had any problems since January 2014. You can get Philips H9 bulbs from Amazon for about $20. Much less than the so called premium H11 bulbs. The H9 bulbs will give you approximately 50% more light than the H11 factory lights.
I saw someone suggesting this on the forum ---- Toyota Prius HID Xenon Headlight Package Deal - Toyota Prius HID Lights What do folks think?
I went the HID route and it works well HID kit work well in the Gen 3's. I've had mine for 2+ years and no issues.
