    DI - direct injection
TS040 - klik on a link - WEC is a championship where fuel flow and consumption per lap is limited, so efficiency wins and Toyota won the championship title last year with port injection.
PM - particulate matter - emissions

186 pages dedicated to the 4th generation Prius ...... and we know nothing more than was known on page 1. In fact, it is more than this one thread. The entire website is directed to the Toyota Prius. You certainly cannot accuse Toyota of pampering it's base, enthusiast or supporters.

Alright you peoples. I put a call into Piercey Toyota, asked a salesperson is coming and he said yes, for 2016. He's not a manager and hasn't been in higher ups meetings, but he talks to them. He said just hang in there til about the end of the year.

edit - asked salesman ' is an all new Prius coming out?'

What's happening here is we seem to be getting so dependent on Priuchat and the internet, we forget to ask the source: Toyota dealers and Toyota customer service about if and when an all new Prius is coming.

I've been doing that for 2 years now...they really don't know until Toyota lets them know.

Now I do know Dealers have seen the almost-production version in Vegas a month back or so...but all detail is very vague. Every detail is vague. There's no new information.

This wait has set the bar so high for Toyota that they'll either knock-your-socks-off or just end up with a 'meh, ok...it's a Prius, but now I like EVs and Ford Fusions'.

I find it hard to believe it's somewhere in the middle (like a stable market). I for one will not buy a Gen 4 if it's not significant enough of an improvement from Gen 3. If the cars looked the same, I would only buy a Gen 4 with 60 mpg+ and all-wheel-drive with 20 miles EV.

Frankly not sure if I care of Gen4 any more. I had been putting off buying for so long that it came down to can't-wait-no-mo'

Got "C" a couple weeks ago, couldn't care less of Gen4. At least for another 4-5 years. By then it will be different landscape.

Toyota blew this one as I am concerned.

I was in the same boat. I held out since 2013 after hearing news and seeing the mule.

I went on and bought a used PIP - basically right after the delay was announced. With scarce info, I'm driving my Gen III 2010 and PiP 2012 for a while before considering a new car. In which case the landscape would look different (Chevy Bolt, Leaf 2.0, perhaps more Plugin Hybrids, lots of "Prius Killers" etc...) Maybe will get a Honda...Thing is, I don't plan on getting anything for a while lol!

I don't plan on getting any new car this year and likely next, but it's so cool to see new stuff when it comes out, right?

I have a 2010 with almost 190,000 miles. I am ready for a new one. I just hope it comes out soon, as my 2010 is starting to get a little old.

If that's true, then the title of this thread needs to be corrected to: 4th generation coming 2016!

Holy moly, if Jan. 2016 reveal, then the car would be delivered several months later meaning it would be a 2017 model which would also mean ...

7 model years for the 3rd Gen Prius. That would be like the previous generation Rav4, 7 model years. Yikes.

I really do not understand what is going on with Toyota. Today, I saw an article on the 2016 Avalon, including pictures. That seems to indicate to me that it is not Toyota's management style to withhold information about future models. Every day I come to believe more and more there is a serious problem with the next generation Prius. It could be a technology issue, or performance, or the appearance, but most likely a cost issue. We'll eventually come to understand what the issues are, but Toyota is really tarnishing their image among the loyal supporters.

I just noticed that post #103 in this thread mentioned an owners survey focusing on AWD 26 months ago. A couple weeks ago I responded to one of Toyota's surveys regarding the next generation plug-in. Surprisingly it focused on design, comparing a traditional layout like the Honda Accord to the more radical BMW i3. Asking which I preferred compared to the Gen3 Prius. The survey also covered EV battery range.

Isn't it a little late to be considering changes to design and EV range? It does reinforce the expectation that the next Plug-in will trail the Gen4 introduction by a year or more.

Supposedly Toyota decided they had to redesign the Prius, thus the delay. I'd speculate there is more to it. People would have bought plenty of Pruis with just the rumored 10% MPG bump even if it had the same body. Chances are there were issues hitting the desired specs and they decided to spruce up the design a bit while they sort that out. Sucks to wait but hopefully they come up with something exciting. My only concern would be them rushing and ending up with a buggy new hybrid system. So it's best they take their time even if it means losing some market share.
