I want to turn on the beep function when locking my 2007 Prius and the dealer said I will have to pay $49 for the tech to hook up the computer to turn it back on. Can I just buy a OBD ll scanner for around $69 and do it myself or do I need a different device? Please advise and thanks
You will love the mini-vci as much as you love your Prius Is the same exact thing Toyota mechanics use. You can see every piece of data/settings/systems in the Prius and change/read/interpret stuff for HOURS!
That sounds great and I just ordered it off of Amazon for a whopping $26 including the software! The Toyota shop was going to charge me $45 labor to turn on the beep.......now I can do it and still have a scanner for future use. Thanks again.........I love this car and whenever I decide to trade I will be buying another Prius!
The Mini VCI is possibly the best investment you can make if you wish to work on your Prius. Bear in mind you will need a laptop "preferably an old Windows XP" to run the program. I added this because it is not mentioned in the above posts, and may not be self evident to other possible candidates reading this thread. John (Britprius)
I have it running on my 64 bit Win 7 machine after finding this thread: (Solution) Mini VCI + Toyota TIS Techstream 8.x on Windows 7/8 64-bit. - Toyota 4Runner Forum - Largest 4Runner Forum Have not tried it with 8 or 8.1 yet.
