I have a 2011 Prius Three. After about a month of owning it, I had the dealer disable the back-up beeping so it only beeps once when backing. I'd like to disable the "key not detected" beep. Anyone know if this is possible? I googled around and couldn't find anything. Thanks.
I don't know the answer but are you sure want to do this? I mean, even with the one beep, twice, I dropped off my wife and she left with the keys in her purse. I was only dropping her off at the front of the store. It would be mighty inconvenient if it was the airport and going home for the spare wasn't my next destination.
A message on the display is enough for me. In the morning, we are warming up the car while opening and closing doors, and the constant beeping/nagging has gotten to be enough. I'm guessing that if it can be done, I'll need an OBD tool. There is one thing I feel the car SHOULD beep about, and that is if the emergency brake is on and you shift into D. Hilariously, that is the only thing it doesn't nag you about.
This is a safety feature that you cannot disable legally. I guess it'll stop nagging you once you're dead from not turning off your car 1 time in the garage. The carbon monoxide will do the trick in stopping the nag.
Why not just throw the key fob in the front seat until you are ready to get in and drive ? Toyota is not going to let you disable this beep.
The dealer can do it if they're willing. Or you can do it yourself with a product and software such as this one: http://www.amazon.com/Newest-V8-00-034-Techstream-Diagnostic-Software/dp/B00C9B32J4
Not sure, I haven't done it myself yet, but ordered this after reading a thread where someone said they did it.
