A petition to Toyota to build electric vehicles

I hear you. There was a time when Japanese cars were of marginal quality. Who knows, the Chinese may follow suit. Even so - for now, when you watch some of the YouTube videos on Chinese car crash tests, it's almost comical how much some of their cars can become accordions.

 

Well, it's one way for them to keep the population down.

 

Yes, and their first EV vehicle delivered here for review was quite remarkable... a definite eye-opener in how well refined PiP actually is. The sound & feel of the electric motor was really surprising. You have to experience that level of "cheap" to realize the tradeoff that's possible. I certainly wasn't aware an EV like that would be considered appealing enough to even attempt sell. Would a super-low-cost EV (with obvious shortcomings) be a draw in this country?

 

good question. i suppose there's a market for everything, depends on how cheap though.
