I am used to hitting my lock button on my key fob and hearing the horn honk to confirm it is locked. Is there a way to have the horn blow as well as see the lights bling to indicate the doors are locked? Thanks, Rod
This may vary a bit by specific Prius model and year. Have you looked in your owner's manual yet ? There might be an option you can change......but I doubt it.
The beauty of the 07 is the button on the drivers handle that you press to lock the car, the key fob stays in your pocket, no the prii don't honk when you lock them, but if you listen you can hear the doors lock.
Thanks for your reply and now I know it doesn't honk upon locking with the key fob. Thanks for your reply. I have searched in the owners manual and it doesn't indicate that the horn will sound in any way when locking the doors. Someone told me it will beep when locking but I don't hear that either. I really like this car......it is our first Prius and we are hooked!
the beep is pretty quiet, especially with ambient noise, and for those of us who are a bit hard of hearing. what?
I'm pretty sure almost all toyota models have the same beeping sound when locked. I do believe I've read here on PC that someone either disabled or enabled the beep. Not sure, but when you're in a parking lot I hear the same toyota beeping sounds alllll the time
That "someone" guy is good at passing out bad information, it seems. Mine chirps/beeps when you lock it regardless of the method but it is 6 model years newer and a different model too.
I have a 2007 Prius with most of the extras. How do I activate the beep sound to happen when I lock the car to confirm it is locked. I am used to my Ford F-150 horn honking but cannot get my Prius to make any sounds. Anyone know how to turn this feature on without having to pay the dealer to program it? Thanks, Rod
you need an obd II tool such as scan gauge. or you can shop around, some dealers will do it out of the kindness of their heart.
…from the owner's destruction manual for my 2009 Gen II, check section 1-3, page 43. It talks about a beep, but says nothing about the horn, perhaps you might ask your neighbours' opinions on having the horn warning every time you lock/unlock your car…
an obd II tool, is an electronic device that connects to the computer port of the car. they use it to diagnose, check emissions and etcetera. scan gauge is one brand, there are others. you can get one here at the priuschat shoppe, or google it and amazon will provide.
I have Techstream and have never seen an option to make the horn blow when you lock the car, and Ive been deep in the "utility" portion of every subcategory many times.... HOWEVER, why not go to a car alarm store and have an aftermarket keyless entry installed? Those always blow the horn and flash the parking lights when you lock the doors, in my experience.
Thanks so much to you and everyone else for your information. I am going to get the beep turned back on for when I use the lock button. I am a first time Prius owner and simply love this car. My wife and I are hooked and Prius is going to be our only car from this point forward!
