I was thinking of purchasing this for my Prius and installing it myself: Amazon.com: NEW 4 Parking Sensors LED Display Car Reverse Backup Radar System: Automotive Has anybody installed this on their Prius? My main question is, what is behind the rear bumper cover? Any tips are appreciated!
Buzzkill I dont always rely on the back up camera, and it seems like the sensors would be a good supplement. Plus, its winter time and I need projects to keep myself out of trouble, lol
Here you have instructions to install Toyotas own system http://www.toyota-tech.eu/aimuploads/%7BE7E67433-C9D9-A209-BCDE-F17A6AFDC9D9%7D/TPA800%20LHD%20PZ464-00425-00%20AIM%20000%20307-1.pdf but this can probably be used to install any system that you want.
I'm interested in feeding more camera inputs into my backup screen. I have a camera mounted over the front-bumper and another one under the passenger mirror, and they work fine with the aux inputs, but I'd rather have them come on-screen directly when I switch them on. I wouldn't mind being able to turn on the backup camera when I'm driving, to keep an eye on things back there sometimes. I have a rough idea which wires to tap into on the head unit, but I'd rather use a wiring harness with the right rectifiers wired-in to prevent back-feeding if required. I'm not confident that I have enough information to begin such a project. Has anyone done something similar? I'm aware of some more elaborate projects using video-switching boards and such, but I want to stick to simple wiring.
