That was exactly it, Rebound. The "Check Hybrid System" indication never went off. I drove it over the weekend after it started. I know I can most likely drive it. The service tech said something about the way it works with the software. Whatever. They're trying to take care of it.

And we're giving it 30 days. Once that's up, we will most likely start the process of asking for a refund pursuant to Lemon Law. It's only been a week so far, so we're just waiting......

Will let you know when/if anything happens.

That's different. If the Check Hybrid System light won't go off, it needs to be fixed. I thought you just meant that you can't charge the car.

They really should get you a loaner vehicle and repair your brand new car. Very surprised at them if they aren't.

I was provided a Corolla, which I turned in the first day and paid above and beyond for a more comfortable car. I do a lot of driving, and the Corolla was uncomfortable for me. So I forked out the extra $20 daily for a BMW. Whatever, I'm over it.

I received the call just now that the part came in and has been replaced and I should be able to pick up my car tonight. Wish me luck!

Have a one month old 2015 with less than 1,000 miles on it. Got the same hybrid system problem described above. Followed the instruction not to drive the car and had it towed to the dealership. Dealership says the hybrid charging system needs to be replaced and there's a two week backorder on the parts needed. Now driving a lovely Nissan Versa loaner car.

Hope I didn't make a bad decision going with this plug in.

nah, you'll be fine. just a spate of bad chargers for some reason. must have a bad sub part or something. you think it would get caught in testing though.

Awesome! If it's a typical Prius, you'll need little more than oil changes for the next 100,000 miles or more.

seems there is a bit of confusion concerning this issue.
the link provided states that some cars save the ODB2 data to non-volatile memory.
And if Prius is one of those I think it would be good to know what data is saved and what data is lost.

Here is another post that states a dealer doesn't recommend disconnecting the 12v due to data loss.
Parking My Prius v for a Few Weeks | PriusChat

Personally, I'd want to know before messin with the 12v, even if disconnecting it only eliminates the trip data.
But I sure wouldn't want to erase any freeze data, if codes have been set and the Triangle indicator is on.

TrinaF. I'm glad you finally got your car back it's OK

if that were the case, there would be a lot more problems due to dead batteries than just the car not starting. unfortunately, there are a lot of clueless dealers.
