Basically no word from XS. They've sent one email saying they'll look into the matter, but nothing happened, and when I asked again I was not answered. I had to open a dispute with Paypal, and only minutes after that I got an email from XS informing they've credited the order. However the credit is for $145.82 even though I paid $150.48. They've added an "adjustment fee $4.66". What BS is this? The money also doesn't show on my Paypal account, at least not yet. But because the credit looks like it was automated (maybe their shop is programmed to automatically credit in case of a dispute on an open order) I'll wait for XS to open shop today to explain this. It's 12PM here but 3AM in the US.

I had to escalate my Paypal dispute into a claim. XenonSupply has been dead quiet for the last two days. I have received neither the product nor the refund I was promised. They have stiffed me for $150.

    In my experience:
    AVOID XENONSUPPLY.COM AT ALL COSTS.

Case closed. I got my money back after making the Paypal claim. So that's a decent result, just a lot of time wasted. I won't bother with this joint again, there's plenty of other places you can source HID kits from that actually deliver.

My personal experience with Xenonxupply was really good. I received the kit and one of the bulb had gotten out of its protective case during shipping and broke. Xenonsupply shipped out a new bulb the same day. I can't comment on the durability as I just recently installed them but time will tell.

The only thing I don't really like is the color. I picked 6000k but it is a lot bluer then I thought. Then again they are not broken into so they might color shift after 30 hours or so. I'm hoping they get whiter, not bluer ;) I wish they had a 5000k option like most OEM installed hids. I would have picked that one.

Oh and I used the coupon code xsforum15 to get 15% off the entire order.

Did you know OEM HID's from the car manufacturers are 4300K?
You went way over 4300K and are surprised they're blue?

On the upside- bulbs aren't expensive so spend $50 and replace the 6000K bulbs with nice Morimoto 4300K bulbs and you'll be very happy with the results. Consider it a learning experience....

And like StarCaller mentioned- HID's shift towards more blue color with age.

I had 5000K bulbs in my previous car. They were whiter then 4300K bulbs without a hint of blue at all much like Benz/bmw hids.

Xenonsupply advertises their 6000K bulb as "Crystal white". I was expecting a bit of blue but they look blue a lot. You can compare with the LED corner bulb that is pure white in my picture above. To me, the bulbs look more like 6500K-7000K.

That being said, is it possible that the projector housing itself changes the color of the light to make it look whiter on the C? Of course they would be made for halogen bulbs so the lens would have to have a slight blue tint to make the halogen light appear a bit whiter. But now that I stuck 6000k in them in makes them even bluer? Just a thought.

I bought mine from XS and there's also a slight hint of blue. As it gets warmer, it gets slightly whiter but still bluer than the 5000k in my Sienna. I don't have a C so it might not be the projector lenses.

    Hi all,

I just bought a used Prius IV, and joined this forum. Anyways, has anyone else had problems with XS after deore's incident?

Also do the "new design" cables allow for the installation to be just like the video? or are they shorter?

Congo on your purchase, I also recently purchased used used 2011 Model IV.

I originally bought HID Kit from Xenonsupply,. few things have changed in their kit now from the one shown in the video:

    1. length of wire from ballast is more shorter, hence it wouldn't reach from the mounting location they show in the video to headlight housing.
    2. quality of wire has changed, they felt more skinny
    3. 4300k bulbs I got were super hard to sit properly let alone getting them twist to lock it in,. in process broke one tab.

On upside, they CS was pretty good (I only talked to them over phone, so no idea about email support)
    4. returned the kit, was refunded 10$ less citing to adjustment or restocking fee I guess. (since I take it as tab fee :) )

Then went with morimoto 55w 4300K bulbs.
    1. overall quality was good, but downside is 4300k with 55w ballast will behave like 3300-3500k bulbs or at least TRS CS support kept emphasizing and will assume you to know this ;) (This was not mentioned in their website, they mentioned about +20% intensity, -20% life but nothing about kelvin behavior)

    2. TRS CS were super hesitant (specially a guy named Jamielle ), he was ready to offer discounted pricing on 5000k ( saying its my fault for not understanding how HID bulbs work, I had to explain him about signal amplification as I am electrical engineer :), and also I had to say about possibility of returning the kit as their website clearly didn't mention any kelvin change behavior with 55w ballast, after which CS agreed to send replacements 5000k with 47$ charge as refundable deposit till they I send them back 4300k bulbs.

    3. The replacement 5000k, one of them purple bursts during warm up, then again TRS CS were totally BSing, then we agreed on seeing after burn in period of 24 hours. Purple bursts on bulb doesn't seem to happen.

overall, TRS is good, IMO its always better to talk with them and know more as they are super hesitant of exchange no matter what.

I can't comment on the reliability , have to wait and watch.

I learned Kensun kits are good to, but when you start adding relay and other stuff, it runs upto 100$, and Morimoto XB35 bulbs are good based on lot of reviews, hope it helps. And the relay kit from TRS is super nice,

    Drive down bumpy hi way

    AMP Denso 35 watt ballast
    Morimoto XB35 4300k bulb
    TRS Relay

I bought a "slim premium ballast" and 4300k Generic Chinese bulb and put them into my wife's Camry. The Denso and Morimoto bulbs are much whiter and brighter.

Thanks J!!!! I was on the fence with this too, my buddy sent me a link to some cheaper ones $50 on amazon, but after he installed they were not that great. I'm going with the xenonsupply ones. Thanks for the details and photos!!!!

Thanks for all of you that contributed to this thread. This is the first time I'm on this forum (after wife complained about how dim her '10 Prius headlights are).

Quick question: Has XS improved the installation kit? Specifically, it seems that all the newer (mid-2013 and on) posts mentioned the wiring kit is too short on the driver's side, as well as some problems with the HID bulbs.

Anyone with up-to-date experience? Thanks in advance.

I can confirm that there has been NO Change in the installation kit. In fact my lights were defective and I submitted a ticket to the [email protected] address with that exact compliant. It does work, but took longer than expected to install. I though I was crazy trying to follow the install video when the wires would not allow me to reconnect the plastic cover piece. I'm anal about clean wires installs so this was a perfect location, but I finally figured out my cables were too short after about 30-45 min of every permutation of wire/ballast placement!!

Basically the bulb wire needed to be fished through the backside of the fenders to get to the ballast connector which also had to be mounted (hanging) behind the plastic cover piece, not on the outside in the engine bay like shown in the video. Because it is dangling, the likelihood that eventually this would pull the ballast of the cover over time is greatly increased. I put some extra tape on it to secure it and I foam wrapped the block/transformer so as to not make noise if it bangs around back there as it's very close to the fender. Seems like a longer wire would have people a lot of time for installs and also replacements. I'm not looking forward to fishing the new bulb wire through there and removing the plastic cover pieces again as it should be all done into the engine bay. Basically a bulb replacement now is a total reinstallation. they need to change it.

Tips: don't bother emailing their support. I emailed twice in 2 weeks with no response. I called them up directly and got a replacement shipped out same day.

Also my buddy has a prius and has the $50 Amazon HID, the install was a lot easier since the cables were longer but the lights from XenonSupply are whiter and brighter.

    Email to Xenon Supply support:

I have received the lights last night and installed the. There are a few things
    1. One of the lights are not as bright as the other, passenger side is weaker it seems.
    2. The brighter one (driver side) as a halo or hot spot in the middle of the beam and is very distracting when I drive. (See attached video)
    3. The ballast that came in the set does not look like the one in the video. The cable with the larger block that connects back the bulb is too short and made mounting difficult in the location described in the video. It worked but took a lot longer than anticipated.

Thank you, nugimon, so much for your feedback. For whatever reason, it really seems like XS's quality control has gone down quite a bit, judging from all the negative feedbacks in this forum. Although I did place an order with them this morning, I think I will cancel it Monday morning, just to avoid all the potential headache.

I really hate it when I feel that I'm the customer that's paying the merchant to do their beta testing on their product, and the more I read this thread, I can't help but feel that XS is doing exactly that.

Go with morimotos 55w with 5000k with relay with xb35 bulb to prevent ground installing.
I have been running for < 1 month now.

So I got the replacement bulbs in 2 days which was cool. Hooked the driver side up, fishing the bulb wire through AGAIN!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:. Looks good with no hot spot and no ground shadows, but I noticed that the replacement bulb was whiter than my old ones. Luckily the when I hooked up the driver side with the new one it was a perfect match. Both were whiter than the first set. Perhaps they shipped my the 4300k the first time and now I really got the 6000k ones. Or it could be their quality control is bad. Here are some pics of what the shorter cables look like and color difference. I do have to say there are very bright and I do like them now, but they could have added a few more inches on the cable with the big transformer, to make installing/replacing bulbs, a lot easier. I can live with a defect on parts, but the ballast???That is a design flaw or is not really meant to go in a Prius in the location XS advertised.

Hard to tell in the pic, but the old bulb was definitely more yellow and noticeable. Compared with the parking lights which are 5500-6500k.
    10-29-2014 12-00-43 AM.jpg
Here is the STUPID new premium ballast that has the short cable, installation and replacement takes 3-4x longer than it should be and will require more reinforcement because of the dangling ballast.o_O
    10-28-2014 11-57-21 PM.jpg

Lastly, make sure to re-seat the grommet. On both sets, they were off and I had to re-seat the the rubber grommet back into the little grove under the tabs. If you don't it will be way too hard to try to install the bulbs, re-seating them made it a little easier to turn and you don't have to push them in too much.
