I started a separate thread for this new PIP 2015 issue so we can keep better track.
This should bring more in if they Google the error message.
We are at least up to three here as of this posting , and Toyota hasn't got a clue what real problem is it seems. They are saying charger problem of which the parts aren't available.
    A production issue maybe?

Issue for these new owners doesn't seem to be going away and they are without their new car to drive while Toyota is trying to figure this out it seems.

That may be a fourth one now. The two I know of last posted driving a rental or another vehicle. Cars aren't fixed yet.

    we need a poll.

onePIP from post #72 'plug in charger issues' thread, says he was told it was his charger, but didn't give a repair time frame.

same thread, trinaF says waiting two weeks for new charger to arrive. had no clue there was a charge timer in her car.

in that same thread, the o/p, mehul, confirms in post #23, that after leaving the car at the dealer for more than a month, it turned out that both he and the dealer were using the charge timer incorrectly.

and then there's BAAA from the same thread. got the same error message, but drove his car to the dealer no problem. 09/28 dealer orders a new charger, should be in by 10/06. no update from BAAA since then.

Correct, we have no confirmation yet that replacing the charging circuit fixes the "check Hybrid, STOP vehicle" message yet. BAAA is supposed to have parts by now, but no update yet. TrinaF still awaiting parts. OnePIP reporting message with no fix yet.

??? I don't know. How many 2015's sold in the US to date?? I don't know that either. It looks like this has been around since the 2013's. Only maybe more prevalent with the 2015's being sold here is the good old USA.

One PiP here, so here is a summary of what I know:
    1. BAAA: Plugin Charger issues | Page 2 | PriusChat
    2. TrinaF.: 2015 Prius Plug In "Check Hybrid System" | PriusChat
    3. OnePiP (self): Plugin Charger issues | Page 4 | PriusChat
    4. plugin: 2013 PiP Base - Check Hybrid System - Error Code P0D67? | PriusChat

    Reported Codes:
    • P0D67 / 844 (me and "plugin")

The ability to diagnose and "repair" the issue(s) seem to be related to the competency of the service department of each dealership. Unfortunately for me the guys working on my car seem to be one taco short of a combo meal. They still have my car (10 days) and supposedly they are replacing something, but even when I called they seemed vague and not confident in their answers.

I'm already keeping track of the days and considering going to arbitration if this becomes a recurring issue.

i don't think it will be recurring if they fix it. the question is, can they fix it. i don't understand why toyota doesn't just give people a new car in these situations.

    11,800 in u.s. 2014 through september.

    oh no, not another one?

Our 2013 PIP just got this "safe place" error message this evening and is on its way to the dealer for repairs. Given that there are not many PIPs in Pittsburgh (this one got its start in Manhattan), I appreciate your updates from other cities.

The usual dealer answer to everything ..... just keep replacing stuff until they think it's fixed. A worldwide issue for most main dealers. Its' what happens when they don't have a f-ing clue what the issue is!

A friend of mine is an independent mechanic and the amount of work he gets from people who had their car in the main dealers and they cannot find the problem, despite fitting loads of new parts. he gets lots of repeat business as he's clever. If he cannot straight find the issue, he's use the 'net and maybe find the issue online and he also uses some technicians forums where they discuss issues / problems they've come across. There are very few unique issues with any car. In other words, he thinks outside the box, something that doesn't generally happen in the main dealers

exactly. imagine a good wrencher staying with a dealer? they would never pay them. interesting that toyota will pay to replace the inverter when it's a known problem.

Finally, I got my car back. The part they replaced was Toyota part number G9090-47040 (the charger assembly). So far it seems OK, no CEL, let's see after a few charge cycles.
