Another Scangauge Thread - Daisy Chain

The original post and topic of this thread is about Scangauge daisy chain. I havent seen any of "
the (numerous) reports of the strange things that sometimes happen when you leave a scanner plugged in too long" as claimed by the messenger.

The messenger has delighted himself with others claims of strange things happening with tools other than the Scangauge. Perhaps messenger should start a new post on all the strange things that happen to all the other tools that people claim cause strange things? And not hijack the OP's informative post of success with daisy chaining Scangauges.

 

Maybe we should discuss watching the road instead of looking at all of those gauges.

And it would not have BEEN a hijack if my simple comment had been just left to die a natural death.

My experience after last recall for inverter software changes. Fuel gauge is known. My 12v gauge reads all voltages with lights on or off. Speedo on gauge shows same as auto display. Inverter coolant temp is considerably higher than ambient temp here in Texas right now. Friction brake can activate any time, mostly when battery full.

And my MPG is way off calculated MPG. As much as 4-8 mpg higher than calculated. I dont trust the fuel consumption gauge anymore.

Don't trust the pump gauge either. There's no way of truly knowing that you are filling to the same level each time. MPG can only be accurately measured over the course of several consecutive refills.

 

I have a good handle on my mpg and I do trust the only gauge that is calibrated on a regular basis, the pump. I fill up two to three times a week at the same gas station and same pump if it isnt to busy. The Toyota computer is off big time since the inverter software update. And those are the facts I have experienced.

 

I understand your point, and my ultimate MPG is based on gallons pumped and miles driven (cumulative), although it is interesting to compare the results from ChuggyPig's computer and each of the SC-IIs (…ah, boyz & their toyz! ) - Wil

PS: I noticed at the beginning of the summer, my MPG dropped to about 37 mpg, but on doing some research (here on PriusChat) and changing my habits re. exactly when to use the A/C (see other threads), I was able to bring it back up to ~50-60 mpg

 

I haven't checked my SGII against my Toyota MPG. I will do that next fillup.

My GPS is the closest to my manual calculations based on miles driven and gallons pumped over time. GPS is usually within 1 or 2 miles.

 

UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool & Information Center - Another option - similar to the scangauge but a bit more versatile. Works well (although I don't know for sure how it does in a Prius.

Definitely should give you temp, RPM, and voltage, though.
