What does it look like against a flat wall from a distance? How hot does the lens/vinyl get?

A flat wall is a tough commodity to come by here. My house is built into the mountainside and the deck goes around the other three sides. So I won't get the chance to check the light pattern until I go to Santa Cruz tomorrow night after work. I'll see if I can get a pic of the pattern into the stairs or the dirt hillside in front of the car. I am mainly attempting to create less light going above the HID headlight cutoff off the bottom of the light body/reflector.

As to the heat, sitting still the glass lens gets fairly warm, but not to hot to touch. And when moving, the flowing air and the heatsinks keep them barely above a lukewarm temp. If it does ever get too hot and begins to peel, it was only a few pennies worth of vinyl and less than 20 minutes to make. ;)

I thought of doing this before, but only tried it with dark gray translucent vinyl. Needless to say, it wasn't very effective at reducing glare. :( It didn't occur to me to use opaque vinyl. ;)

Then I thought of fabricating some louvers or slats to keep the light going out at a level to low angle while screening out high angle light. But I never got around to making it.

Yours looks pretty retro, like those WWI era pictures of vehicles during air raid times with painted headlights.

    No fog lights on:
    IMG_4629.JPG

With only the HID fog lights on:
    FogLightCutoffLine.jpg

The car is sitting approximately 4" below the bottom concrete step. Tough to see in the daylight, but the yellow light really shows behind the second step on the hillside, with very little light going above the second step. After it gets dark, I'll take a few more pics to see where the cutoff occurs as compared to the headlights.

The idea came from an image I found on Amazon for LED fog lights...

OK I'm a dummy... cargo leds working now after the fuse was blown because the wires touched during install because of the plug coming off when it was shipped in the box! It was wrapped in the white paper and I didn't see it until today. Oopps sorry @sfv41901 for wasting your time asking u questions on this!

I just ordered a set of those a few days ago(17th). How long did it take to ship them?

I'm assuming they came from Share Style in Japan.

image.jpg Put on my new summer rims, konig feathers 17x7.5, will rock them for a few weeks and switch back over for winter. Couldn't wait 6 months and not see them on.... I know it's 4x4 status but I figured I'd wait till after winter to put my springs on image.jpg

Lol, never thought of it like that..... It's a toyota logo sticker that was part of the pin strip that was on the car when I got it, never thought to take it off when I dipped it.

Update pics, taken without a flash or any additional light sources, of the 3k HID fog lights, w/cutoffs, and 5k HID headlights, showing the overall light pattern:
    IMG_4648.JPG

No more yellow light is showing from the fog lights, in the overall light pattern, above the 5k HID headlights pattern.

What's the distance between the stairs and the lights? If it's too close, the lights could be rising, but it may look ok. Increase the distance, and the light might be able to spread up more. If it's about 20 to 30 ft and no stray light above lowbeam cutoffs, then yes, I'd say glare is gone. ;)

Pic taken with the car backed up 26' from the stairs/hillside, from the hood of the car:
    IMG_4650.JPG

Just the slightest amount of yellow light showing above the headlight pattern cutoff from the fog lights. I can adjust the fog light to project a lower pattern on the housing itself.

    Looks good. Thanks. :)

Maybe I'll try Plastidip on my Camry foglights. Easier than getting and cutting vinyl.
