I bought my PIP Advanced model that comes with Display Audio with Premium HDD Navigation with Entune App Suite etc. back in June of this year. Today I got a call from Sirius XM that I need to renew my XM/audio subscription. I assumed it would be for 3 years just like traffic, weather and fuel prices. Does anyone know if XM Audio is also included for 3 years or is it just for 3 months? Btw, I am way past the 3 month trial and the audio still works on my XM radio. Any ideas or information is welcomed! Thanks for the quick help! Th
You ever get an unsolicited call, where they say " Hello sir, I'm with mumble-mumble, and I'm just calling to bring you up-to-date on mumble-mumble..."? Something along those lines? Picture a room full of cubicles, people getting min. wage plus commission, talking their hearts out trying to get you to open your wallet. A lot of people stick with them, do the yearly dance to get the discount rate. Personally, we had a one year subscription, and the only reason it wasn't auto-renewed (against my express request) was that our credit card numbers had changed. Those guys are OILY, I would never do business with them again.
Pretty certain it isn't 3 years free. Call them and tell them you received a letter offering you a renewal price of $25 for six months. It often works.
When you buy a new car you get a free 90 day subscription to XM radio. If you want to renew, the longest term that you can renew for is 1 year. I renewed mine for $99.00 for 1 year. I have since found out through this forum that you can negotiate with them. I have read that some people renew for 5 months for $25.00. I think you have to renew via telephone only. Ask for the retention department when you call, then try to bargain with them. Like anything else, maybe whine a lot about how tough times are for you. I sure would not pay their regular rate of about $179.00 per year. Good luck to you. Perhaps you could let us know how you do with them and your bargaining process. I sent them a personal check when I renewed.
Thanks for the replies and the useful information. I for some reason thought that audio service was also included "complimentary" for 3 years with my new Prius . Anyhow, the guy offered me a 6 month - $30 or 12 month $89 renewal. I am pretty used to their business model as I have had Sirius XM on my other car for over 3 years.
The Advanced comes with a complimentary 3 yr subscription to the XM data services (such as the traffic overlays on the map, sports scores, stock prices, weather). As mentioned, the radio station subscription is only for 90 days.
I believe you can add additional units onto your account at a reduced rate. Used to be $5 a month per device
Once you have a account, you can add up to four additional radios (other cars, home, work) for around $6.99 each per month. I really like Sirius XM, we have it in four cars and at work. I let my wife handle negotiations at renewal, she has the patience. Like another favorite of mine, DirecTV, it's cheap entertainment.
