Hi: I want to install a homelink mirror with compass on my 2014 hatchback. Doe the stock mirror use the standard wedge mount? How can I remove the stock mirror to check the mount. Thanks, Don
There is a screw on the underside where it is mounted to the glass. It should be a hex key. It should mount just fine.
I don't think that's correct on the 2014-2015. There seems to be a "spring" wire on each side of the square cover, then a lever is moved to release the mirror. Regards, Don
I have the old homelink, autodimming, and compass mirror from my 06 prius. I'll check if that will go on my 2014 PiP or not this weekend. I'll take pics if it is a little extra work.
Mine (the one in my TCH that I got from a junkyard) has a compass. You can get them with or without a compass. I always buy used and it doesn't matter what vehicle you get it from, Mazda, Toyota, Nissan, and many others use the same GenTech mirrors.
Maybe you can make a tutorial on how to install one of these things . I've been wanting to do it on mine but not sure which wires to splice into.
Here you go JC. This is the one I did for the TCH. Installed Gentek Mirror with Homelink and Compass | PriusChat It's really just too simple.
Looks like you are right about the "spring" like clip on the newer models. I didn't have a lot of time to try to take if off this weekend. Also, the direction on the above post to installing one of these appear to be correct. There is also a post on here with a link to the Toyota instruction to install it. I don't have that link anymore since I downloaded the pdf.
