My ordinary keyfob is a 14ACX. The card type 14AEB apparently also works.
Lexus has had the center cut keys from the beginning, so I am simply ordering a blank mechanical key from the electronic parts catalog, which I will have cut to my key code. There are two places nearby that can cut these, or there is also a guy right here on PC that bought a cutter and is cutting keys for people.

You're welcome. I don't know, but I doubt it. In order to program, the Techstream needs to be connected to the car, and in my case, it also performed some kind of unrelated test, which would have required a connection to Toyota/TIS. It would not allow my tech to do anything, until he permitted it to run the test.

Interesting. That would seem to say that other 14AEB keyfobs would work on Prius that come with 14ACX.

There are at least 2 shapes of Lexus center cut keys, neither of which match the Prius center cut key. The newest Lexus key is cut on one side only, with the other side a full cutout. It also is cut with a smaller diameter cutter than the old style. The Prius center cut key has the 4 outside corners grooved, unlike the Lexus that is just square cut.

I can't even insert a Prius blank into a Lexus CT200h lock cylinder. Could be the hole in the end of the Prius key, or maybe the edge treatment.

Let us know how the mechanical key cutting goes. I predict a continuing saga...

Good to know! I will have to compare the blank to one of my emergency keys before any cutting occurs. Even at my cost, it's almost $40 for the blank.

I had a local locksmith make a copy of my factory emergency key, which I keep on the car in a Hide-A-Key box. I tested the credit card key by removing the battery and pressing the start button with it. The car started, so the NFC feature is also compatible with the Prius.

Can you suggest a locksmith to program card keys as well?

As far as I know, only a Toyota or Lexus dealer can program the keys.

Would Toyota program a lexus key? I'm guessing, it's probably cheaper to go to Toyota to get it done.

It varies by dealer. Some dealers will even add key for no charge, although that is rare.

I just spoke with some dealers in my area and they are quoting $55-$60 for reprogramming a key. Lexus wanted 3x as much! *yikes*

    Probably use techstream to program.

I didn't notice that you're here in Oregon. If you're willing to make a trip to Hillsboro, Royal Moore Toyota will probably do it for free, if you go in during normal business hours. (M-F, 8-5).

Sorry to raise an old thread but does anyone have an idea if this Lexus card key would work with a 2012 Camry that uses a Smart Key?

Keyfob types are identified with a number like 14ACX. Look on the Camry keyfob for this number. If they match, it probably will work. I really doubt that the mechanical key in the Lexus card is going to work.

I'm using a Prius keyfob with my wife's Lexus CT200h. The cases are different, but the circuit boards inside them are identical. The Prius mechanical key is different from a Lexus mechanical key.

You're wandering in poorly charted waters. You may want to verify that you can return the key if it doesn't work.

As posted above: My ordinary keyfob is a 14ACX. The card type 14AEB also works, since that is what is marked on the Lexus Credit Card key.

The mechanical key will NOT work.

Thanks guys, haven't yet bought a Camry or Prius but compiling pros/cons. The Prius I'm interested in uses a 14ACX fob but the Camry does not so that's definitely a plus for the Prius.
