Hello all, my 2010 III's hybrid warning light illuminated today while I was driving, and the vehicle shut down almost immediately.

Towed to Florence (SC) Toyota, who diagnosed the issue as a failure of the hybrid water pump.

Quoted $1060.00 to replace, parts and labor.

Wasn't this part recalled in 2004-2009 models? Any action on later models? Does the estimate seem reasonable?

    Thank you for your input.

Don't know how hard they are to get to but the inverter coolant pump is $219.26 and the engine coolant pump is $551.02. Even at $100 an hour, which is high that would be 5-8 hours labor.

This pump costs ~ $250 through RockAuto
    AISIN WPT190

    The gasket is extra.

It doesn't surprise me that the dealer is trying to blackmail you with your car already on their lot.
Is there another Toyota dealer or a reputable auto mechanic that can give you a quote over the phone?
Heck, they might tow your car over for free?
Please keep us posted. My mileage is getting up there too, so I may have to do this soon. :(

$260 from amazon.com and if you have prime will come in 2 days, free shipping whether prime or not and rockauto.com charges shipping.

Forum messes up amazon.com links, so copy and paste.

Check with your auto insurance if you have towing coverage. Surprisingly they covered my moms car to have it towed from her house to a mechanic. They had already towed it from the break down location to her home.

I like buying from an autoparts shop if I can because I take advantage of the opportunity to buy little stuff like washers and filters for the next couple of years. The total shipping then comes out very reasonable.

Got 15 OEM Toyota filters on ebay for $38 and 50 drain washers for $9.74. Rockauto cannot touch that even with their cheapest filter ($2.69) and oil drain gasket ($0.50 each), don't forget shipping.

    Excellent prices!

My point is simply that when I shop an online auto part, I try to buy a number of items together to spread the cost of shipping out. My experience is that the first item is ~ $10 and each additional item is a small additional charge.

True. I also consider rockauto but do better elsewhere. eBay is great for single parts or accessories, especially OEM, even better for bulk. For more generic parts Advance Auto Parts always has 30% off and quite frequently $50 off a $100 purchase, order online, pickup in store in 30 minutes.

I wasn't pushing RockAuto per se, although I always check them because I find their catalog easy to navigate.
