Did anybody noticed on the Prius v, under the driver's seat the carpet having cuts (holes)? Looks like it has been cut there for some reason. Maybe to access something? I noticed that a long time ago when I bought the car new. I recently out of curiosity checked another prius v at the dealer in the showroom and it had the the same cuts, although a little less then mine. Did anybody noticed the cuts too? And maybe knows why they would be there?
I would agree wiring unless it's there to accommodate the rear seat vent (easily seen from the rear).
There are no cables going through the holes. The carpet under passenger's seat does not have cuts like. Here is the link to some pictures of the carpet under driver's seat (shows cut carpet): Carpet under driver's seat in Prius v | PriusChat Does anybody has cuts in the carpet like that?
My 2012 v3 has the same cuts. The front one (at minimum) covers a captive nut in the floor. I would assume some Toyota option would have a mounting bracket under the driver's seat that bolts on through those openings. Maybe the advanced navigation has a box under there. Alternatively the mounting opportunity could be useful for installing an aftermarket amp to feed the back speakers.
In the GenII Prius, the cutouts are there for the navigation system's wiring harness and attachment bracket. Similar holes on the passenger side can be found for the JBL amplifier. I would assume for the GenIII it is the same reason. In those with nav, the box goes there. In those with the high end speaker system, the amp goes under the other seat. The holes in the carpet are just the way it comes on all models, even the base rental Prii package 1's.
My 2012 V has this also. Not sure why. The flaps cover it, but when looking under the carpet flaps, there is nothing of interest there. Just the metal floor of the car.
