Personal preference in my book. I like the 17"'s that came on our Gen III. Pictured in the my avatar to the left. They are wrapped with Michelin Primacy's. Whatever you do, make sure you run good LRR type tires on her, otherwise the MPG will plummet. Nice looking Prius you got there. Add the body side moldings and the lower chrome trim and she will look sharp. This is what ours looks like. Bad choice of "word" if you were selling you Prius with 17" wheels. I have 17" Prius Persona wheels on my Prius PIP. I can count on 50 mpg plus in ICE mode. Most here will agree to expect a slight reduction in gas mileage with 17" wheels, but as everything else, it varies.
Well, the only thing I can say is this. I am driving a NON PIP Prius. Last tank came in at 56.8 And that is with those 17" wheels and LRR tires. Don't know what else to say. My point was your use of the word plummet. A slight drop in mpg is more accurate. That's with non LRR tires (Continental DWS) and 17" wheels. I'll take a quality set of all season tires over LRR.
So, I guess you think upper 30's versus lower 50 is NOT plummeting? I have seen folks report numbers like that here on PC. And I am not exaggerating. Call it what you want to. It is a fact that NON LRR tires will cause the MPG to be lower than LRR tires. Honestly, IMO what is killing your MPG more than anything is your location. You are up north where it is a lot cooler. Whereas the OP is in the south like myself. Honestly though, I would be ashamed to own a PIP and only get 50 out of it. I have seen PIP's get 80 and higher on Fuelly... I thought the reason to own a PIP was to get better MPG than the non PIP. But I guess in some cases it just is not happening. You don't by any chance think your quality non LRR tires might have something to do with those low numbers now, do you? Also, since when was Conti's DWS better than the Michelin Primacy MXM4? It's a highly personal taste thing, for me the OEM 17" wheels on my 3rd gen Auris are the bomb. I believe the exact same wheels are offered on priuses.
By the way, my avg consumption indicator right now is showing 3.7 l/100 km which is 63.5 mpg, even though it has been relatively cool for a few days at around 25 C. So I wouldn't worry about the 17" wheels increasing consumption. I have the Michelin OEM tires which I believe are LRR, but I keep them at exactly 42/40psi front/rear measured in the morning when cold. I tried higher but the handling was dangerous.

Thanks for all the help. I'm leaning to the 17s" and will use the tire size of (205/50/17) its the closest to the standard size (195/65/15) I have found.
17 inch wheels all the way! For me, I'd choose a 45 series sidewall. 50 is a bit too high. That's only me tho
Exactly. Pay attention to revs/mile when changing tire sizes. It does affect the odometer/speedometer read outs.
