Hello all! Yesterday I came home for 20 minute stop. I parked with my front end sticking out of the garage.. Big Mistake! My 10 year old daughter sees the garage open and hits the button to close the garage door and walks away. Worst part is! I could hear the door closing from inside the house and could not get outside fast enough! I've spent the last 24hrs trying to find replacement parts on the net and all I have obtained is more confusion. Please help!! Is it all one assembly or am I looking for multiple part numbers??
You can't find the parts NEW from the dealer painted. Unless you can live with it, the only viable solution is a repaint. They will have to do that with brand new parts, anyway. They come primed except for the trim strip..
In the first picture it's #1 which is the bumper (aka bumper cover). In the 2nd picture it's # 3 which is called the lower grill
So that additional silver trim is not shown on the diagram(this is a question) is it? Cause it would seem that is all I need?...minus the bumper cover.
You should take it to a trusted body shop first. They may be able to buff/lightly sand out the scratches and repaint the bumper cover and trim piece. It would be optional whether you want to do it out of pocket, or as a comprehensive claim on your auto insurance policy. That would be less $$$ than buying and repainting a new bumper cover and buying a new trim piece. SCH-I535
Just to give you an idea for cost comparison, I had the rear bumper skin replaced on an 06 honda civic hybrid 2 years ago for $1200 insurance claim. The price of the bumper skin was $330 unpainted. paint = base ( mid coat if you have it ) and clear, is probably another 100 or 2 for enough to do the bumper depending on if you have a mid coat, like pearl.
It's not a PIP, but this is available, and it's not pristine: 2013 Winter Grey front bumper with lower grill | PriusChat Also, I can't see if you have location information as I'm on my smartphone.
Just left the body shop. The good news is my guy thinks he may be able to wetsand most of it out. We will see tomorrow. I will report!
Well, so far the news is good. There is just my wife and I and when I park my car like you did I always tell my wife to not close the door. Lately I am trying to stop that habit because if I keep parking it that way, ME or her will eventually close the door on the car. Accidents happen and it hurts to have any damage to any car especially a new one. I just bought a new Avalon and I scraped the very bottom of the right side of the front bumper against a curb. That hurt. The body shop told me to just touch it up and not repair it. It is hardly noticeable but I KNOW IT.
@Okinawa sorry, phone is not cooperating... I work at TMMK in Georgetown Ky and have to look at Avalons all day.... they are beautiful cars... cngratulations on the purchase... You're right..it's something about knowing about an imperfection with your car that can just EAT at you, even if you can't see it.
