Motor Trend calls (2013+) Avalon their 'top enthusiast approved choice for the brand'. (ISSN 0027-2094 p. 85)

I hope the 2015 Camry / Hybrid gets some more 'enthusiast approval'.

I had a 2013 Avalon XLE touring V6 rental for a day and it was quiet, solid, had nice grip and little body roll. I liked it.

I had a 2013 Camry Hybrid XLE for a couple hours and I wasn't impressed with body motions and driving feel on Niles Canyon Road. :p

ours was 34k msrp, got it for 30in june of 2013. agreed that honda dealers probably pay more, and larger dealers get better pricing than small. but it's still up to them how much they want to discount, and if they aren't getting many, i suppose there's no point.

I would like your opinion. If it is negative I would still like it. I know I am not a good bargainer when it comes to trading cars. In May of this year I traded my 2011 Prius Two with 48,000 miles on it (immaculate condition) for a new 2014 Avalon Hybrid XLE Touring with a list price of about $38,000. I paid $22,500 difference out the door. I checked with one other Toyota dealer but this was the best I could do. I think the sales tax on the Avalon was about $2,000 plus title transfer, etc.

not sure who's opinion you're looking for, but i would say the prius was worth 16 on a trade in and the avalon was worth around 36k. so when you figure all the extra costs involved, i'd say you got a very fair deal. the only way to do better is sell privately, but that's a hassle for some of us.

we got 11k for our 2008 hycam and paid 30k for the '13. so 19k plus tax and fees out the door. i always figure the best deal you can get at the time is a good deal.

Thanks for your opinion bisco. Your opinion is the same as mine. I once sold one car. Never again. The hassle is too much for me.

I didn't have too much trouble selling my 2009 Prius to private party. Got buyer on first day the CL ad came out, they paid my asking price of $18.5k and I took a cashier's check. No problem. Really nice couple bought it. One minor drag was first party to look, a 20 something yo who test drove it with brother and father in back seat, then offered max of $2k under my asking price. Told him 'not for my car'. See ya.

Seems you did pretty well getting Avalon.

Thanks for your opinion. I think I did pretty good as well. I'm satisfied. The dealer I bought it from made everything easy. No hassle at all and that is really a plus. Sometimes you find a good one.

I testdrove both Accord hybrids: The old V6 with 3-cylinder mode & the new I4 which is electric only below 44 miles/hour. My highway MPGs were:

55 mpg for the V6 hybrid
70 mpg for the I4 hybrid (basically identical to my Prius)

Both scores were far short of what a Civic or Insight does, but then they have teeny-tiny engines (1.3 and 1.0). The Accord hybrids had 3.0 and 2.0 respectively.
