    All,

I sent in my application early in the week (bought my PiP in late May - California - but was unaware that 15K additional stickers had been approved).

I have been on pins and needles after some posts indicating that the stickers are close to getting exhausted.

Is there a number I can call to find out the status of my 'Green Sticker' HOV application ?

Also, how much time does it take to get the stickers, once you send in your application ?

    Thanks,

I called them a few days ago and they told me they were still on the letters with July 16th postmark.

The dealer did all the work for me.

I bought the car on 7/15 and got the stickers today. They were marked by the state as 7/25

The number on my sticker is 466XX so there are about 8K more. It looks like they are issuing them at the rate of 2500 per week, so my guess would be another three weeks ?

I sent my application in on July 28th, and my check was debited yesterday. Hoping I get my decals soon. Can't wait to cut 10 minutes off my commute.

My check was processed yesterday as well. I called them today and they said as long as your check was processed by DMV, you will get the sticker in next 5-6 business days.

Just noticed on the CA ARB website that as of August 11th, 50,098 "green" stickers have been issued. That's about 10,100 stickers that have been issued since CA expanded the program on July 1st by an additional 15,000. I'm hoping that a good number of those are dealer pre-registrations (and that the state will again suspend the pre-registration program). I'm planning to pick up a PIP tomorrow likely without the sticker and will need to apply for it. The dealer told me that they can't pre-register for the "green" stickers since they reached their pre-registration quota/allocation from the DMV. I didn't know dealers had a pre-registration quota/limit. Is what the dealer telling me correct?

Anyway, I understand that I need to wait for my license number to be assigned/issued before I can apply. I'm probably cutting it close but think I'll be able to squeeze in and get a "green" sticker before the last 4,900 available run out. Can anyone with prior experience with the application process weigh in on my chances of getting a green sticker and any tips for speeding up the process?

I bought my prius plug in two weeks ago..

It will take you 3-4 weeks to get your license plates...do not buy a prius wanting a green sticker unless the dealer promises you one.

There are plenty of dealers that have them already or you can call Diane.

    just my two cents.

Congrats! I got mine today in the mail as well. The number is 488XX. So there is still lot of hope for people sending applications in Aug.

I got 524xx - I guess, these numbers may not have anything to do with the nos issued so far. I think we are trying to see logic where none exists - so typically human.

Mike - Some people have posted on this forum that their dealers were able to provide them with the license plate # in 2-3 days. Please push your dealer to do the same. I guess they have some way of knowing the license plate # from DMV specially if you finance the car. Once you get the license plate # apply for the sticker right away. I sent my application around July 22nd and got the sticker today.

Thanks for the tip. I have also heard of some dealers being able to get the license plate # from the DMV within a few days, but I thought those are for dealers that offered some sort of onsite DMV services. I'll push my dealer to do the same thing. Does anyone know if it's too late to have the dealer pre-register for the sticker if the car is being purchased the same day?

I believe the dealer has to send someone from the dealership in person to the DMV to pick up the plates rather than sending all of them in a batch weekly or whatever. You may have to put some pressure on them to do it. I wouldn't rely on excuses from the salesperson, go to the sales or general manager.

Roger - Many dealers now use this company DMVdesk #1 Electronic Vehicle Registration Solution in California for the vehicle registrations. DMV has a contract with them to handle all the paperwork. I suppose gone are the days when dealer used to work directly with DMV. My license plate and the car registration was printed & shipped by DMVdesk for my last 2 cars (PIP'14 & Acura'13)

Interesting, but what I'm referring to is having the plates on the car at time of delivery, which is how mine was done. For those anxious to get an application for HOV stickers filed in a timely manner, the extra few days processing and shipping might be cause for worry as the availability of stickers dwindles. I haven't looked lately, but the DMV used to staff a special window for dealers to use.

When I got my PiP in March 2012, I got my actual plates from the dealer two days after I bought the car. I did not finance through them, so I assume this delay was to make sure that my check cleared.
