under 20$ is more like it... :cautious:
sure, it's an expense, but as I keep telling myself after I bought this car, that I'm worth it... :p

Since realizing a loss of 4 or 5 MPG with the new wheels and tires I installed about a year ago, I decided to spruce up the OEM steel wheels that came on the car and get some LRR tires. I bought the car for the MPG benefits and realize there is a tradeoff in the handling department. I have kept the other wheel setup and can return at any time.

That's actually a nice touch to the stock steelies. How'd you go about doing that?

Looks like a chrome trim ring.

Had some black sand pearl basecoat paint left over from painting the sides of the tail lights. Then covered that with an epoxy urethane clear coat. Added the trim rings as ztanos correctly notes. Black lug nuts completes the deal. Less than $100 for the whole deal. That and a good bit of time for the prep, priming and painting.

Sound like time well spent actually! Have a link to the trim rings?

What setup did you have that was "killing" your mpg?

Just added Spyder LED taillights in ref. A Fiamm horn and a center brace. I'm not sure the center brace really does anything but look cool from underneath.

    Drag Wheels. Extreme Alloys. | DR-9 (15")
    and Pirelli P4 185/60R15

Nothing wrong with this setup. Better handling, more stable but does hit the MPG.

Gotta be those pirellis unless those wheels are heavy as hell.
Word add they're barely any wider must be a soft, sticky tire compound.

Tire and wheel come in at around 31 lbs. Tire is an all season, not sticky, with an 85,000 mile warranty.
