To be fair, if (a big if, my state does not do inspections so I am guessing here) they could easily plug into the diagnostic port and check the status of ALL systems. But yes they probably just do malfunction indicator light inspection.

No hostility, but just wanted to provide a small counter argument.

As far as I know, California doesn't do annual inspections on cars. They do smog every year, but I think that's it (correct me if I'm wrong). Also, that's for the passenger Air-Bag, meaning if I'm driving alone and it malfunctions it won't hurt me. I didn't block the Air Bag icon for myself.

I will say tape would have been a way better idea, I didn't think of it.

Most states don't do inspections on cars. Only 17 states do according to Wiki. And you're right, they would be able to find it with their little computers. ON top of that, I didn't block tha Air Bag malfunction one. That's this one.

CA has inspections for a salvage/rebuilt vehicle and then bi-annual (every other year after first 6 years of being sold) smog checks, except for hybrids. Even diesels have to pass an (albeit rudimentary) smog check now.

Califonia does not do state in-spections, but what happens when you sell the car, (or trade it in for another Toyota) and you get (I know this is a big IF) a tester that notes that these lights are not on, and takes off from the trade in price to fix them.

Or the next buyer who gets your car and thinks the lights are not working?

Noted. When I sell the car I'll have to do some work on that.

too much trouble for one little light

I think after I took off some of my dash to do wiring or put in a new radio...my dash started to rattle some, should have left my dash alone, now I gotta find sometime to tear it apart and see where the rattle is from, QQ

Installed LED replacement for all the small bulbs. Two in the front, one for the trunk and two for the license plate light. They were super cheap. The pack comes with 10 and I only used 5, so even if they all fail I'll still have a spare. They were pretty cheap. I'll update if they ever go out. The temperature on the them is a bit cool. Very white, only a tiny hint of blue. The inside is way brighter now, although a bit cooler feeling. The license plate looks amazing, no complaints there. The cargo looks the same, just more white/blue. Also, to kinda help with the light, on parts that I could I glued a small square of aluminum foil so the light would reflect better. I did this in the trunk light and on the flat side of the two license plate lights.

Link to amazon, $8.80 with shipping last I checked.

I just installed new High Beams are they're really white. I'm hoping I can get some new lights like you did for the regular lights.

what high beam bulbs did you end up buying?

the DDM kit is good quality for the money. if not the DDM then the TheRetrofit Source kit is also great.

Did you use HID for high beam?

I was bored so I made all this, with pictures.

I didn't use an HID kit for the High Beams (Should I? To kits seems like overkill). My initial intention was to get DRL's that were whiter since I thought they'd look cool. Like an idiot, I didn't know that the DRL and the High Beams are the same bulb. I bought these (link on bottom) because the reviews were good and because the guy who changed out all his lights on one of the more popular threads had them. My DRL's are still yellow, but they are a lot closer to white than they were before. My High Beams however are super white now. It's perfect. No yellow. No blue. Just pure white. They're definetely whiter and brighter than the stock one's. I'll have to change my low beams soon so they match.

Here's a pic of the low beams and the high beams. Reminder: My low beams are stock so they're still a bit yellow. If you look closely you can see where they change color from yellow to white.

am hid kit for high beams is a bad idea because of the warm up time. also if you do put a kit in highbeams, you wont have any drls or you will be running high beams full power.

Decided to get rid of the USB cable in white and replace it with a black one so it matched the dash a little better.. but then got tired of it hanging out so I ran it underneath and then in the glove box down the side and along the center console and then up through the armrest that I added so now my iPod is much closer…..

Nice. Better than what I did. I also didn't like the cord hanging out, so I bought the shortest cord possible. I'm guessing you have an iPod touch?

Blacked out the middle section of my C. I think it looks amazing. I recommend everyone do it, it makes a nice difference (even on dark colored car). IMG_20140805_173000368_HDR.jpg IMG_20140805_191327368_HDR.jpg IMG_20140805_191342423_HDR.jpg

Looks like you did a nice job there. Keeping it clean is a whole different headache though
