Ahh yeah I had one of those too. You can find someone savvy to copy them as well, not advocating that but it's possible. I think entune is useless but the maps are faster. Entune only has a 0.5A charge rate on the USB so I'd rather use the 2.1A iPad charger
Is there anything else about the newer audio nav systems that make them a nice upgrade over the 2010 models ?
I would say that the non-JBL Entune vs the older JBL nav...the older one had a changer in the dash and also a flip down screen. Two things that can go bad. The Display Audio has a fixed screen and single Cd slot.
I think that the consensus around here is that the Display Audio system in the Base model is pretty lame, but the HDD JBL system in the Advanced is quite respectable. Since it is not DVD-based, getting map updates in the Advanced requires the dealer to get a special flash drive and authentication codes to upload the update to the hard drive in the car. At least at my dealership, this involved quite a bit of training that I had to push along.
Yes. I did a component speaker 6.5 set in the front of my display audio and it sounds much much better but not as loud. Could use an amp. I've heard the 2010-2011 JBL was better sounding than the 2012-up JBL GreenEdge...have only heard the former.
/ I"m not sure which system is which it says JBL E7022 has 8 speakers i think its this unit here E7022 Toyota Prius jbl navigation gps system radio 2010 2011 - CD4Car I just bought a mint with leather seats 2010 Level 3 with just under 50k miles on it a few months ago I got it for $17,500. out the door tax tag and title included. Then I sold for 2k on craigs list my old 93 Ford Ranger that i was driving for over 21yrs it had over 300k miles on it for The dealers i went to didn't want it and would only give me like $500 for it on a trade in Well anyways I was thinking about trading up looking if i could find maybe a 2010 -2013 Level 4 or 5 with less miles on it like maybe something under 20k Personally i find the 2010 JBL E7022 to have some pro and cons Pros being i like the steering wheel controls and the cheap and easy dvd upgrades cons are the sound is not great nav is annoying and not great and the screen has a sun glare issue was wondering if the HDD JBL with the Entune is a nicer upgrade to what I already have
Here is a general security hint I've seen in the past. Set your "Home" to some public place close to home, say a shopping center. If the car is compromised the navigation system will not guide the culprit to your home.
Innacuracy seems to be a common problem on the many GPSs I've used over the years. Sometimes it even snaps to an adjacent street. I think it has to do with signal interference from various things. SGH-I317M ? 2
All the thief has to do is open the glove compartment and look for the registration info that we are required to carry, at least in my state.
I may be dense, but I don't see the how knowing where you live (from looking at your GPS) that would be any different to a thief, than just picking someone to rob at random. I've purchased a few second-hand GPSs with the home address still programmed, and I don't see how that makes anyone more of a target.
I think that would require you leaving your keys in the car, but I see the point you're making; if they steal the garage-door opener.
All Prius have steering wheel controls JBL you have to listen to, to appreciate. The nav is better on Entune, in my opinion, then the old DVD based nav. But there are haters. I will say this, if you decide later you hate JBL it will be harder to install your own stereo. But it can be done.
