whew. what a relief. i bought my PIP last end of may when 40k green stickers just ran out. honestly, i bought PIP just for the sticker since i have a long daily commute. i knew green stickers were running out but the promotion was too good pass, so i took a risk and bought a PIP. i did file application for green sticker right away though. this must be one of newly granted additional 15k stickers. my number is 423XX. hopefully others who are in the same shoes get them soon.
Or until the DOT determines the HOV lanes are negatively impacted by those vehicles with HOV stickers. :-(
yup in CA, green stickers expire on Jan 1st, 2019 or, until law changes to remove HOV sticker cars from HOV lanes. but my 2hr 15 min daily commute will be shortened by 15-30 min. and not to forget, i won't have to pay for express lanes anymore! not a huge saver, but i can also get on the HOV lane at the ramp as well. i charge religiously even though it doesn't make economical sense for me to charge at the paid station at work. but i do it for the environment. i think i deserve green sticker.
I got my Prius Plugin on June 13th, applied for HOV Sticker with $8 check and applciation was recevied by DMV on June 30th. New 15K numbers are available from July 1st 2014. My questions are: Do I need to apply again? If not, how long before I get my sticker? The check in not cashed yet. Any help in getting an idea about timeline would be greatly appreciated.
DMV had a backlog of applications and announced they would be processed in the order received. Hanshinji bought a couple of weeks ahead of you and the sticker arrived July 5. I would suggest patience. You can also read through the threads on the topic and find what others have experienced. Some have posted a phone number you can call to find where your application is in the process.
I bought my PiP on June 6, and I applied for a green sticker about a week later. Just received it on July 2nd. Btw, where did you find the information about "free express lane?"
Item #8. But if you forget to set it to 3+ you will get a fine. You can read about it from link...Worth it to get GREEN sticker Metro ExpressLanes Motorcycles do not need a FasTrak transponder to use the ExpressLanes. The I-110 and I-10 Metro ExpressLanes regulations will be enforced by the California Highway Patrol using visual and electronic means. Vehicles displaying a DMV issued white or green Clean Air Vehicle decal can use the ExpressLanes toll-free with a switchable FasTrak set to 3 (3+ person carpool).
Did you notice that when you pay for $8 carpool decal it expired in 1 year? Do we have to renew the $8 each year? I thought it was a one time fee but the card that you got on the decal state "REGISTRATION CARD VALID FROM: XX/XX/XXXX TO XX/XX/XXXX"
I believe that they may have issued a new registration card for the vehicle when you got the HOV sticker. The Clean Air Vehicle Decal Certificate I have has no expiration date, and the $8 is a one time fee, probably to cover processing and mailing costs. The registration card has the valid dates. A new card may be issued with any changes to the registration during the valid period, such as a new address, new plates, etc. When I switched to handicapped plates on two of my cars mid-year, the registration cards still showed the original "valid from-to" dates.
I notice this too when I got my green stickers. This only apply to those after 40,000? I am part of the extened 15,000. $8 per year is still cheap, but are they sending us renewing information every year like the registration? Yes, I got a fast track transponder and set to 3. Can we go into any carpool lane? or there are limit?
I'm going to mail my application in today. I was going to wait for my license plate but I read somewhere that you don't need to wait for your license plate to send it in.
Really? I thought it was a requirement on the application? You should call your dealership to speak to the DMV desk and ask if your license # has been processed - it takes a click of a button to generate the #, but they can't give it over the phone - you will need to go to the dealership and they will give you the # there.
I just bought a plug in on 7/15 to get the green sticker too. I have a two hour commute and it will save me a bunch of time too. I traded in my 2012 with 60K miles on it. I hate to spend so much money on a trade in that is almost the same as the previous car, but the green sticker is worth it ! It was a tough choice between the volt and the prius. The volt I could of gone all the way in and back on electric mode by charging at work for free. But then it is a smaller car and it is a GM. Wish I could of waited for the redesign. The dealership said they apply for the green sticker, so I am awaiting it in the return mail !
Here is the thread, CA Owners - Don't wait for plates to apply for HOV stickers - Welcome - Ford C-Max Energi Forum yeah sounds risky, it just would be nice to get the sticker right away. I also read somewhere to call the DMV and ask for the license plate number so I'll give that a shot.
