Could you add a section on the differences between the PiP and the ZVW30 upon which it is based? For example, the Prius PHV Manual linked above shows that the PiP has a 40 l fuel tank instead of a 45 l tank as standard.

Curiously, both the PiP and the ZVW30 have the same rating for the traction motor, namely 60kW and 207Nm.

I say "curiously" because I just tested a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV with a 60kW 137Nm pushing 1810kg in EV mode to a maximum of 100km/h and it was significantly more willing to accelerate before engaging ICE. I needed a rude amount of boot to get the ICE running. Putting a number on it, I'd say that the PHEV in EV was 2-3 times more powerful/torquey from cold than the standard ZVW30 when warm, despite the PHEV motor having less torque and the SUV more pork. (The PiP isn't imported into Australia, so I can't compare it.)

On the Outlander PHEV forum question about its total power Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Forum • View topic - What is the total power of the PHEV? this statement was made:

    So does mean that:
    1. the ZVW30 has a 60kW motor that will only deliver 25kW? (Because the HV battery isn't very large.)
    2. the ZVW35 PiP has the same 60kW motor, but is happy to burn more battery and therefore unleash the full 60kW 207Nm at will?

I was sitting in the PiP and started the AC with the remote. The battery was fully charged when I started and was connected to a 30A L2. At one point during the ?15 minutes? of AC, the charge current displayed as negative (- 1.1kW ). After the cooling was over, it took another 15 or 20 minutes for the charge to "complete". What's going on? Running the AC is discharging the battery even though there is plenty of current available from the EVSE? Maybe just a gratuitous battery "top off" or balancing?

Hypothesis only here, I don't know for sure:
I'm guessing that the AC can't use energy from the battery and get charged at the same time. So the end charge is the car "filling back up."

probably right. it's designed to run off the battery, so it probably stops charging, runs the a/c, then starts charging again.

In the manual (under the remote AC operation) it says the charge power may be reduced to power the AC. I have also seen the charge power displayed as - 1.1 kW which seems odd near the end of the charge when the typical charge power would be ~ .5-.6 kW. Again, connected to a ClipperCreek EVSE which is at least 30A, but might be offering higher current.

Does anyone know if it's still true (as it says in the FAQ where it discusses what to do when you get a flat) that you get 3 years of roadside assistance with the PiP? I'm picking mine up tomorrow and I will obviously check with the dealer as well, but so far I think all I've heard is "2 years of Toyota Care".

toyotacare is oil change etc., roadside assistance is separate. should still be 3 years, but i don't know for sure.

Right "ToyotaCare" is the complimentary 25K/2yr maintenance. Roadside assistance is something else, and is still 3 years AFAIK.

Yes, roadside assistance on the PiP is still 3 years. (And I LOVE my PiP...can't believe I waited so long to get one!)

I am not sure if these questions have been asked before, I tried looking it up but could not find any answers. So pls pardon me if they have been answered.

    a) How do you turn OFF the Nav Screen (LCD Display) in the PIP. I don't want it to be ON all the time specially at night.

    b) How do you turn ON the Jewel eye LED lights that are just above the headlights on the PIP. I know DRLs can be turned ON and OFF but I have not been able to figure out the LED lights above the headlights.

    c) How far along does PIP maintain the fuel efficiency and driving history? I mean does it keep records for last 1 year or more? I know entune App on my phone displays last 1 month but how do I see history beyond that?

Thanks for all the replies in advance.

a - Setup Button, then Display Off button on touchscreen.

b - Jewel eye lights illuminate when the parking lights are turned on, but are off when headlights are on.

c - Not sure on this one...I believe the EV Driving Ratio screen is good until you reset or 100K miles.

I only have 2 questions; neither seems to be answered.
    1. how far can I drive on battery alone
    2. What mpg do I get with the ICE engaged.
My Leaf goes 75 miles and recharge is $2
My Prissy gets 45 to 50 mpg on trips. Thats my comparison if I drop the all electric and hybrid to get a plug in hybrid.

15 miles on battery alone, .50 to recharge, and 75 mpg on hv with zero plug in charge. 'nuff said?
