Took v on camping trip :-)

Initially for better fuel economy for short 30 mile trips to town. We traded in a 2010 Honda CR-V(24mpg) for the Prius. Since then we moved into town. Now the need is to haul more items for longer distance, 600 mi. trips and mountain driving as well as around town.

 

My preferred ride for that would have been the Rav4, sadly, they did away with the V6.

Different tools for different jobs.

 

OK, got it - the v met your needs when you bought it, but your requirements have since changed. Makes sense.

 

.........."this car does best when driving around town" where the mileage is 42-46...........

My overall observations as well.....

 

We took our Prius v last weekend on a camping trip, we were 329 miles from Alaska, on Hwy 37 in BC.
We didn't know what the roads were like so we didn't push on this year. Prius worked great!!! Our trailer is a Kamperoo only weighs 530 lbs. pulls very easy.

Thanks it was beautiful, but at times the mosquitoes were very bad...Used lots of Off with 45% Deet.

Did you buy the trailer to match the car, or vice verse?

 

We had the trailer for 4 years, we looked for something light but with heavy canvas for durability. Before we pulled it with a Outback. We are able to detach the Kamperoo and move it by hand into position. Having it was one of the features we bought the v. We were told you could pull it with a smart car.

 

Did you go to Hyder Ak. and watch the bears feed?

I'd love to see one. (The Kamperoo) On their web site, they list it at 700 pounds. (the camper, not the fish)

A bit pricey, but what isn't now? $7,000 plus options.

Retired... we only went a little NW of Prince George, then headed south back home.

Ours is 11 years old the newer ones are fancier (heavier) They are imported from Australia the only dealer is in Alberta, but there was a dealer in the USA some years ago, from what I read. The 4x4 clubs snap them up 'cause they are built and some come with a swivel hitch for rock climbing.

xliderrider... No, the fire was not too close, about 10 ft to closest tree and it was showering ...ground was wet and we were about 30 ft to the lake. We tried to make smoke "fer the skeeters". My wife and I are retired vol. firefighters
(building and wild land) so we don't take chances. But thanks, we understand the concern.

Quite a bit less expensive and lighter, but it doesn't look nearly as sturdy.

 

It took us about 8 months to find a Kamperoo and we were lucky it was only about 3 hrs from our house. The one you posted looks nice.

 

His wife's car. I am getting really pokey in my driving anymore. New to me v two showing 53.2 after 90 miles so far on a tank, last fill showed 51 after 200 miles mostly 65MPH freeway and 60MPH state roads no AC. haven't checked fill vs odo MPG yet. Any comments on the accuracy of the MPG shown on the dash? Is the cumulative (odo display total miles on car) MPG resettable or is it fixed? These numbers seem really high compared to what I am seeing here.

 

The read out is strong by oh! maybe 3-4 mpg or so. Sill nice mpg! Go Baby!!!!!
